Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
CVG got to 79, DAY 78 and CMH 79 today.
DAY tied the date's record of 78 from 1990 and CMH broke the date's record of 78 from 1990!

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Good Evening and though models sort of went east earlier today for Saturdays action it looks like they be heading back west like it was 24 hours ago. More input to the models and hopefully the closer to the event the better the output is going to end up. No changes on my part and though I have 1.25-2.25 for both events I would lean on the higher side locally.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION...
* Primary threats include...
Several tornadoes and a few intense tornadoes likely
Widespread damaging winds and scattered significant gusts to 80 mph likely
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter likely
I have some cousins in southwest IN e.g. under the PDS!

Much better coverage of convection this morning than I expected.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Good Morning and that was one heck of a storm with heavy rain. The line though not quite as severe that we saw to the west the timing of when it arrived made a big difference. I missed the timing by a few hours but that 4a-8a period with energy around normally you get that reboot and storms can ramp up again. This probably helps ease severe weather around here later today but heavy rains are still in the cards with some strong winds. Can we get a storm that ramps up to severe status and sure but locally not expecting a widespread area of severe weather.
Flooding and flash flooding possible with some heavy downpours but overall we have been dry and warm so hopefully most places can handle the heavy rainfall expected later today.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Short term models are showing the heaviest rain near us over the next say 24 hours. Over the past few days they would head east then back west then back east but it looks like they are coming into agreement that a good 1-2 inches for us later today through Sunday morning. My guess if you get a heavier downpour like this morning those totals can go above 2 inches in spots. Severe weather still looks isolated locally though high winds heavy rains and maybe a touch of hail is possible.
Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Next round of rain is building up quite nicely in Tennessee and southern Kentucky. The movement is north/northeast. So what is happening the rain shield is trying to move northeast but the front itself and a low pressure is bringing it back northwest. Where these two decide to meet is where the heaviest of rainfall will occur because you have the extended period of rain falling. At the moment looking at models, radar and surface reports we are no doubt in the crosshairs. Will watch this develop over the next several hours and see if there is any movement that would keep us from getting the heavy rain. At this moment the answer is no so enjoy the next few hours or dry weather and yes even the sun has popped out again so this could add some fuel to storms later and just need to watch that carefully though I expect much of the severe weather is further south.

Good afternoon all! We are having a 50th surprise b-day party for my Brother (whose B-day was back in January) at a K of C Hall by my Church. That is why I have not posted much today nor after this post.,,, will I post again until tomorrow.
Anyway... I was wrong about this morning too. The storms held on. 0.37" so far at CVG with a peak gust of 44 mph thus far. Next round is almost here! We'll see what our totals end up being tomorrow.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
I lied. One more post.
This is a unique set up. We have 1 low occluding over the Arrowhead of MN, then the secondary low which will ride up the front and most likely pass thru SE IN is currently getting its act together in AL. Normally, you don't get 2 strong lows in close proximity like that too each other. One low tends to be the more dominant low. In time, the secondary low will do just that.
EDIT: 1.31" of rain yet to come at CVG per the 12Z Euro.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
First of all Happy Birthday to Larry. I wish I could remember 50 lol. The forecast ended up just fine and again never a perfect forecast as some folks got more than expected and some less but locally we should be over the 2 inch mark before all is said and done. Sure a few creeks were full but overall I believe the flooding was not too bad because the rain was spread out over 24 hours. Severe weather was low which is always nice. The rain will put us finally above normal for the month and just what the doctor ordered which btw is a great song by Uncle Ted.
The upcoming week is a more typical mid-March outlook. Temps a little below normal a few days and above a few days and a couple chances of rain. The remainder of March after this week looks active with more chances of rain and maybe severe weather but again way too early on the severe side of the equation.
