Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Early next week does look to be fantastic for the OV before another storm system moves in later in thew eek to knock us back down to reality. But a nice taste of spring is coming for sure for the first half of next week. For now, the boys had this to say for our storm system today that we are watching:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
The well advertised low pressure system continues to move
through our region at the start of the period. Wednesday morning
arrives precip-free as the dry slot rotates through the Ohio
Valley. However, a cold front moving into the CWA from the
west will provide additional forcing to promote renewed shower
activity late morning through evening hours. There is some very
weak elevated instability during the late morning and this
might be enough for a rumble of thunder and perhaps some small
hail, though widespread storms are not anticipated. High
temperatures on Wednesday occur early, reaching the mid 50s near
the Tri- State and low 60s in central OH/northern KY.
Looking at winds today...while the strongest portion of the jet
aloft will be moving off to the east, low lapse rates will
increase as we head into the daylight hours and may be able to
more efficiently mix down some of the remaining jet core aloft.
As we head into the afternoon, BUFKIT soundings keep us right
on the cusp of Advisory criteria, if not slightly below. For
now, have decided to handle with area wide Special Weather
Statement. We`ll probably end up with quite a few 40 MPH gusts,
but, right now, not seeing data that supports widespread Wind
Advisory criteria. This may need to be reassessed later.
&&
.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
As the cold air wraps around the low, precipitation will
transition to a wintry mix then to all snow Wednesday evening
into the night. Not expecting anything substantial in terms of
accumulations. Perhaps a dusting to 1/2 inch on elevated
surfaces. Overnight lows Wednesday night fall into the upper
20s. Gusty winds continue during the overnight hours into
Thursday and slowly taper off as we head into Thursday evening
hours.
Lingering snow showers move out of the region on Thursday as
upper level convergent ridging moves into the Great Lakes
region. We will dry out with some late afternoon sunshine
possible and high temperatures in the upper 30s/low 40s.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Good Morning and another wonderful video by Brian and I agree with everything he mentioned with the snow tonight and yes one where folks southwest of us have a better shot of seeing snow than folks to the north. These happen with bigger systems quite often. Again may come down hard for a brief period but again roads should be fine. I agree about the system late Friday into early Saturday and again very similar though less coverage with snows and usually on the north end of the system.
Next week really nice and the clubs may come out Tuesday. With that kind of warmth chances for severe weather later in the week go up and by the time we hit the 15th could have another brief bout with snow. None of these snow events look like a problem but again until we usually get into April we stand the chance of seeing a few of these occur.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Agreed Tim. Nothing big as of yet in terms of rainfall, severe wx or snow fall. Kind of seasonal and what you'd expect for March. 3 days of spring early next week will feel good though. Get those grills out too!tpweather wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 11:10 am Good Morning and another wonderful video by Brian and I agree with everything he mentioned with the snow tonight and yes one where folks southwest of us have a better shot of seeing snow than folks to the north. Hey Les and the grill is coming out and it seems to me those first few times you grill in the spring the food tastes so good. March so far looks like March and the ups and downs will continue most of the month

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Absolutely! We will see severe wx if we can get the players on the field to time out right. Moisture return from the Gulf isn't all that great either. I don't see good timing yet for next week (around Thursday or so) but if that were to change then all bets are off.

It’s quite windy outside. Pretty sure I saw Dorothy’s house spinning around looking for a witch to land on. I decided to hide

Radar has a nice area of snow West of I-65. This activity should be in our area by this evening.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Seeing some rain and snow mixed now IMBY.
Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Good Evening and yes some snow showers overnight. With the AO expected to be negative over the next 10 days expect storm systems to move quite slowly like the one today. Good and bad news as we love to see rain in the spring but sometimes this can cause a system to last a few days and if you have tons of moisture this can lead to flooding especially with snow melt to the north as well. Will watch this for later next week but heavy rains could start to cause some issues.

Radar is looking decent. Some folks should get enough to whiten the ground tonight. Good luck to all!tpweather wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 6:57 pm Good Evening and yes some snow showers overnight. Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Got word from my son they only got around 3 inches as some of the heaviest was south as the system did end up going about 50 miles further south than models showed. He mentioned they got tons of rain so that froze with the 3 inches of snow on top of that.

UGH... that has to be tough to clean up. We've been there, done that around here before lol

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Love to see over the next few weeks that we get 7/10ths of an inch of snow and that would put us at 30 inches for the season.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
CVG picked up a trace prior to midnight. Not sure what they got after midnight. I woke up to a car topper and 33 degrees. We'll see what happens Fri night into early Sat with additional light rain / snow in the forecast. Then we warm up beginning on Sunday, lasting thru Wed of next week. Enjoy!
