I’ll 4th it…

It shows rain at 5pm and then snow at 6pm. The later we can push it, the stronger likelihood that more of it comes in as snow. Either way, this evening looks messy.

SPC Meso page shows the surface low along the Red River now (TX / OK border). Seeing some nice EPV showing up across MO and some very impressive frontogenic forcing over Central ILL.

Just had some virga snow lol Good enough to moisten up the atmosphere for when the real action comes in later. Although with all the frontogenesis, it shouldn't be an issue. lol

Okay, couple of questions:

1. Will this snow stick to roads?
2. Is this storm headed on a path to DC? And if so, will it stick to roads on the way there?
3. Airline concerns from here to there?

One of my closest friends lost her 19 year old son in a car accident on Wednesday morning, and there may be a memorial service there this weekend.

Thanks in advance.

So sorry to hear about your close friend's loss of her son, Casie. :grouphug:

Prayers and thoughts for her and her family.

Now up to 28 degrees here.

Hey Casie.... got busy working so just getting around to responding to your questions. If you get under a heavier band of snow then after 6pm, I would expect it to start sticking to some of the roads. This storm is headed towards the mid-Atlantic and DC regions and it will impact them overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning.

Checked some obs out of Central ILL in the past hour and a lot of stations are reporting snow, some of it heavy, with visibilities between 1/4 to 1 mile.

12Z NAM showed 0.35" QPF for CVG. Finally getting a chance to look into things a little deeper here at work. 12Z RGEM is in and a general 1-3" for most. Again just depends on where those heavy bands set up. 12Z ICON has 2-3" for most folks.

The closest reporting station to us reporting light snow attm is Muncie, IN. IND Metro should be next on the list.

12Z GFS should be a nice run... it's coming in slower and stronger with the surface low vs 6Z.
