The Dome has held so far today. We'll try again tomorrow. After that, the weather pattern turns to tracking the tropics and our pattern remains on cruise control. :swerve:

Hopefully we get in on some thundershowers in the afternoon and evening on Wednesday. Then we will slowly lose the heat and the humidity. Next week looks wonderful and again a day where there are more clouds and maybe a few showers you can stay near 70 for a high. Most days mid-upper 70's and lows in the 50's and maybe a few 40's with the dry air and ground.

Storms out to the southwest have plenty of moisture with some isolated areas getting between 2-5 inches in a short time. Hopefully folks get lucky on Wednesday but probably a lot of misses but a few will probably get the excessive rain in an hour or so and with the dry conditions will run off quickly and not soak in

Good morning all! The upper 80s today with a 50 / 50 shot that you'll get a t-storm by this evening. This is it for rain chances until maybe Tues of next week... and that one isn't looking even as good as today's.

Good Morning Les and hopefully the last really hot and humid day for sometime. Sure we can get warm again but hopefully when that happens the dew points will be in the 50's and not near 70. I agree 50/50 shot today and once again a wide range of rainfall totals expected. Will not be able to pinpoint until this afternoon or early evening. After the cold front comes through the dew points and temps will start to drop off and several wonderful days heading this way. Wish we could get a widespread rainfall but not in the cards this go around and again September without a tropical system nearby. Next week will be one of the coolest weeks in quite awhile and again if we get that day with clouds and some showers getting to 70 for a high could be a struggle.

Good morning Tim! The lack of rainfall is really the only compliant that I have for the entire summer (off and on). Temps have not been horrible and we are still below avg for 90 degree days despite the late season warmth.

Visible shows mostly cloudy skies over us with some sun trying to peak thru. More clouds to the West over IN with some partial clearing taking place just ahead of the cold front located over Eastern ILL closing in on the border with IN. We have about 10 or 11 hours for the front to move thru so between now and say 10-11pm we are fair game for a shower or t-storm. I continue to expect low coverage. A few will get 0.25" plus some will get 0.10" and others will of course get nothing. Hope to see some get their dust dampened down. I don't see much else until next Tues with our next frontal system coming thru and another reinforcing shot of cooler air.

Les never easy getting rain in September without some help from the tropics. I believe with an El Nino pattern chances are greater than normal for a dry September. Again nothing we have not seen before and last year with a 3rd year La Nina we had a dry start to fall as well. Once we get into a cooler period even and inch of rain can help big time. Not sure I see that kind of rain in the near future. I agree getting a little dusty out there and I wanted to mow on Thursday so that is taken care of before I head out on my golf outing.

I totally agree Tim! I am expecting the rains to start coming in October. Could even be late in Sept. But nothing significant IMO until then. We are awaiting for the STJ to start picking up steam to promote a more active southern storm track which usually comes as we get deeper into Fall and obviously by winter with an El Nino.

Not much in terms of rain on the 12Z GFS but it does show an end to the heat with our next front coming in Tues then as we approach the 20th, a really deep trough and definitely a fall like shot of cool air showing up. If this holds for a few more days then I would sure feel better.

Les it lasted about 3 minutes but it was a downpour and got 0.05. If I could get the downpour to last 1 hour I would be a happy person

Well the front is still out to the west and starting to see a few showers develop west of Bloomington. Lets see if we can get at least a line to form and give folks some rain. Not going to be much and hopefully somebody gets under a thundershower.

Good Afternoon and quite muggy out there and glad that will be coming to an end. Thursday and Friday look great with lowering humidity and temps and then the weekend. There will be a system that could cause more clouds on Saturday and Sunday especially the further east you live. This could also cause a shower or two but nothing major imo. Then later Sunday through probably Tuesday as things slow up because of the tropical system the weather will be great with temps in the upper 70's and lows in the mid-upper 50's. Then we have a system hanging around the great lakes and the trough will probably get somewhat deeper. We should have more clouds and maybe a few showers but the main feature will be how cool it might get during the Wed-Fri period. Again if we get a cloudy day temps could have a hard time making it out of the 60's and nighttime lows still in the 50's because of the cloud cover. After that we look to get somewhat milder the following week with temps back to normal which by then is probably in the mid-upper 70's for highs and mid 50's for lows. Overall we look rather dry during the next few weeks and then hopefully we start to head towards a more active period but again the tropics could still hold up the pattern once again but too early to make that forecast.

Still not much action to the west though a bit more further north but that will stay away from us. Not looking promising at this point and the 0.05 may be my final total. Not asking for much and just a 30 minute thundershower will be just fine
