1000 MB Surface low over Western KY is moving NE and has a date with us in Cincinnati. It's going to move right up the I-71 corridor towards Cleveland. The dry slot is already punching into areas SE of I-71.

In Piqua at the moment headed to Wapakoneta. Sleet In Piqua. I would expect to get back into the snow by the time I get to Wapa.

Have a solid 1.5 inches this morning. Probably closer to 2 inches fell, but has compacted already. Get your slush cleaned off before the temperature drops and your drive way is an ice rink.

I was able to see moderate snow falling around 3 am when I got up briefly and my street was starting to get covered. Got up again at 5 am and just drizzle and my street was already cleared. I measured an inch and a quarter. Decided to go in to work this morning as most of the roads were just wet and a light rain falling just enough to keep the salt spray from the roads at bay. I'll be WFH tomorrow and Friday as it sounds like the roads may be actually a little more slick than this morning.

EDIT: I do think the HRRR seemed to do the best again when the event got closer. It was more granular in the precip and that’s how it went.

Most schools absolutely overreacted thanks to some Mets and social media. Luckily here in Boone Co they did it right. No delays no nothing. Just a regular day here. Yet last night Milford Schools closed and now my brother has an unnecessary house full of kids today.

Boone County had a 2 hour delay this morning. I couldn’t figure out why except maybe what little snow we had coincided with the early bus routes.

Did they get more snow in the northwest side of Boone County is the only reason for the 2 hour delay. I know the airport got a few hours of snow.

The snowfall graident was so tough with this system. A few miles made the difference between 4" that you guys have reported in our N and NW counties to maybe a 1/2" or so IMBY. I have not seen a report out of CVG. Seeing some 5" reports in N. Montgomery Co North of Dayton Metro.

Les the airport showed 0.28 inches of precip before it changed to rain but not sure how much accumulated. I got let me check out my window again and I got zero.

Next week arctic air is heading south and east but the southeast ridge over Florida is going to make it a nice fight between heat miser and snow miser. This also gives the coastal Northeast a better shot of winter weather as for the most part they have been spared in the bigger cities. What does this mean for us and probably more forecasting headaches lol

The slushy mess is slippery to walk in! Took the dogs out and really had to be careful.

I wonder if that was part of the school closings. Early schools would have kids and teachers slipping and sliding in the parking lots.

Great post! For some examples, my Mom's Sister who lives NW of STL in St. Charles, MO was supposed to get hammered! Not the case. They only got 2-3". I also have relatives in Somerset, MI which is in the NE corner of Hillsdale Co in the southern part of the state. They were also supposed to be in the jackpot zone. Granted, the storm for them just started around 6 or 7am this morning, and so far, they only have a couple of inches or so on the ground. Ground temps are warm and no arctic air as you said, Tim. The only way these storms can work out is to have 1"+ per hour snowfall rates. Then the snow will stick and pile up faster then it can melt. Otherwise, the snowfall forecast is going to underperform almost every time. Something to think about with future systems when we have no cold air to work with. That is why Sunday worked out as well as it did. We had 1"+ per hour snowfall rates for several hours and boom! 3-6" fell in the areas that kept getting the heavier bands.
