Sirens went off here 3 times. Heavy rain and lots of lightening! We were under a tornado warning but it’s moved on.

Things seem to be calming down now.

Pretty lame. Lots of hype for over a week...lasted about 10 minutes in Morrow, OH. It's storms like this that make people call BS on the talk about Wednesday being severe. Not pointing fingers here, please understand that...but this storm was just meh...

I was in the tornado outbreak in 1974. The tornado that devastated our town didn’t last long either. I’ve learned that the “hype” is warranted and I’m glad it was just meh for you. I try to not think of it as hype but rather information to help me get prepared. Just my thinking as we approach the April anniversary.

We got a 40 MPH gust in my part of West Chester but appears to have been worse just up I-75. Radar echos were stronger and seeing reports of trees snapped and/or down which doesn't usually happened at 40 MPH. NWS will have to see if report damage was straight line winds or brief tornado in next couple days. I understand the feeling this was a bust but In the vast majority of cases, the warning is for a large area but only a small part of it sees the warning level winds and/or hail so it verifies.

Personally, I like the longer notice for watches and warned areas for these types of events. I'm just glad we don't have to hear sirens when there is a severe thunderstorm warning during a tornado watch any longer :).

I remember the 1974 outbreak, too, Lisa. I was 11 yrs old at the time and my folks, sister and I resided in the Oakley area of Cincy.

Along with the AV Community, am so very thankful also for the SPC and NWS e.g.

Good morning and I thought the line of storms was a little stronger than I expected. Timing so key and not only did the storms form quickly off the west yesterday afternoon they were moving fast and was able to get into our area for the most part before the sun went down. We will find out where some of the damage was later today but imo this was not hyped too much because many folks got hit and my guess wind damage either from straight line winds of maybe even a few tornado's that may have briefly touched down. Severe weather is not going to hit everyone when a storm hits and some areas had less in the way of severe weather but still believe the enhanced forecast was correct. Sure there are times when mother nature throws a curve ball and the forecast is a miss but last night not so much imo.

It’s always about the magnitude of severe potential when multiple parameters are favorable. SPC has no choice when it comes to that. 1 more hour of sunshine and severe reports jump up , 2 more hours of sunshine and another jump up. You just don’t know the specifics until the event actually starts.

0.81" at CVG for the event total. Wed is our next day for severe wx chances esp late in the day and into the overnight. Thurs is also another day to keep an eye on but I like the Wed threat better to be honest. 4-6" of rain is likely per models from Wed - next weekend so flooding concerns are still high.

I like the discussion on here too. With severe wx, only 1 or 2 posters could see something noteworthy. The rest of you, probably not. This event was more run of the mill for you. A lot of times it can be like that. With major weather events anyway it is like that. But stop and think about it. If it wasn't you or your property that was impacted this go around and hey, that's great! I hope you are never impacted at all. But stop and think about it for a second. What if you are one of those loan / isolated cases that were impacted. Just stop and think about that for a sec. Having to deal with insurance companies and adjusters. Wondering how the damage is going to get fixed. Are you covered? How much can this cost you? I've been there before and it sucks let me tell ya, but you know what? I am thankful it was for minor stuff. I didn't lose my car or my house. I remember when Trev lost his entire house in the April of 1999 storm. So glad that he and his family survived. They got their material things replaced thankfully.

Very well said, Lisa, Tim, Bgoney, and Les.

Its why I am so very thankful for AV, the NWS / SPC, Trevor, Josh Ketchen, First Responders e.g. etc.

Last year e.g. a tornado went through northern Darke Co. in March and one went through north Greenville in May.

I saw that and my son in Wausau,Wi mentioned yesterday they stayed around 32 or 33 degrees and the ice was not bad but he did get another 3 inches of snow. I was researching ice storms and for that part of the world late March through mid-April is normally when they get their biggest ice storms.

Been monitoring it too since my Aunt lives in Mio, MI. It's like an hour SE of Gaylord. She didn't loose power as far as I know. Had about a third of an inch of ice accretion based on pics that she sent me.
