Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
13 out of 20 12Z GEFS members show snow for Sunday like the OP GFS. We'll see if we can gain any foreign model support.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
12Z CMC has the 2 part idea as well for this weekend however the southern piece of energy is suppressed and gets shredded so no storm occurs at all. 12Z UKMET has a strong S wave but the moisture stays to our south and we don't get much interaction with the northern jet at all. I guess you could call it a blend between the GFS and CMC solutions.

Those clouds are holding tight today and temps slow to rise

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Tim... 12Z Euro for Wausau looking really nice for snow this week. Looks like your son gets some rain today changing to snow tonight and Wed. For us locally around 0.40" of rain then some backside light snow after that as we've bene talking about. No changes for the call for our hoods. Again wind is the bigger issue this week. We'll see if the Euro does anything for us this weekend or not here shortly.
Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Hey Les and could be in the 6-8 inch range up there and still believe a 50/50 shot for the call of a blizzard warning during the storm. I would love to up there sometime with a big storm.tron777 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 12:34 pm Tim... 12Z Euro for Wausau looking really nice for snow this week. Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
No doubt Tim! I'm right there with you lol No dice on the 12Z Euro for this weekend though. The model still wants no part of it. GFS has been over amping systems this winter where the CMC and Euro has been flatter, colder and more suppressed with systems. That has been the trend this winter so we'll see if that continues or if this weekend system can buck the trend at all. If the trend can be bucked, we'll get some snow loltpweather wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 12:39 pmHey Les and could be in the 6-8 inch range up there and still believe a 50/50 shot for the call of a blizzard warning during the storm. Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Not to beat this issue to death but CVG is at 43 right now and the clouds are still holding tough. I have seen a peak of sun though as of late so some sun should try and break thru later. We won't be going totally clear though. The boys have bumped us down into the upper 40s now though for highs as a result.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Nice hits from the members on the 18Z GEFS., It is also more amped up for this weekend on this run vs 12Z. Too bad we can't gain more model support for this.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Good morning folks! We have some wind to talk about as well as some rain / t-storms. I am still surprised that we have no wind advisory out from this afternoon thru Wed. If I was able to issue my own warnings legally, then I would have an advisory issued for the region. Anyway expect winds to gust in the 35-50 mph range starting this afternoon thru about Wed early evening. No changes to the rainfall amounts. 1/2" is a good avg, Some less, some more, it depends on if any t-storms can get involved.
Once we get past this system the weekend system was a GFS fantasy so don't worry about. Could still see some light snow northern counties to light rain S counties Fri night into early Sat. But the 2nd piece for Sunday is a big miss to the south at this time.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
If we're going to see strong winds this afternoon, then we've got to ditch the cloud cover so the air can warm the ground, get it to mix, and bring the stronger winds down to the surface to where we live. We still have an inversion keeping the cloud cover in place.

We are finally seeing some sunshine. Upper 50s to lower 60s across the region. Winds are picking up too gusting to 25 mph so far, peak gust at CVG.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
62 with a gust to 29 now at the airport. Dew is still at 27 so this verry fry air mass should make it easy for strong winds to develop with sunny skies (at least out my window).

Thanks to the dry air, CVG has rocketed to 67 degrees!

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Good Evening and I believe it makes sense to have a wind advisory issued and the strongest winds will probably be Wednesday afternoon as cold air starts to work its way in. So two periods of rain with one overnight and then again ahead of the front on Wednesday. Late Wednesday into early Thursday yes some snow showers are likely and some will probably look impressive but with the warmer temps this week most roads should be fine but again you can always have a slick sport here or there but nothing major.
Finally got the winter storm warning up for where my son lives and they show 4-6 inches. He lives northwest of Wausau and he tends to get heavier amounts then folks just to his south. Still believe a brief period where a blizzard warning could happen but should be short lived and though the first part of the storm will be rain switching to heavy wet snow the latter half of the storm will have a fluffy snow and that along with the winds could cause some problems. Good thing is its March and temps will even rise there the remainder of the week.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Good morning all! 0.14" at CVG overnight. 0.17" here, and 0.18" at the Boone Co mesonet site. A break right now but more wind and rain will arrive ahead of the cold front this afternoon. The high of the day is right now, this morning. Temps will fall also. Rain will change to snow this evening with a covering on grassy areas and car tops possible by Thurs morning. No road issues are expected.

Re: March 2025 Weather Discussion
Peak gust is 43 mph at CVG so far. Rain and a few storms are lurking off to the West and SW of the area with some snow mixing in by the time you get back towards St. Louis.
