Good Morning and yes the storm is winding down. With all storms there are surprises whether good or bad. I guess the good is the storm went down to a Cat 3 before landfall but again that still caused major damage. The bad was the amount of tornado's and the damage and loss of life before the Hurricane itself reached landfall. Normally you will get a few tornado's with landfall Hurricane but I had noticed Tuesday night the waterspouts west of Florida were not only seen but the spin was more than normal. This ended up a forerunner of what happened Wednesday.

Going to take time just to get power back on probably years to repair the houses,buildings and also need to see how the outer islands were probably changed to a certain extent.

These kind of storms the past 3 weeks is Mother Nature trying to balance the atmosphere in this part of the world. The amount of warmth across most of North America including Alaska was so widespread and with a change of seasons she is trying to make that work but needed overtime to get this done.

Yes and there's been a staggering 45 reports of tornadoes so far with Milty! Good riddance to that son of a gun Beast!

I've been seeing lots of damage and videos coming out of FL this morning. The tornadoes with this system really caused problems even for location far away from the center such as Miami. Lots of trailer parks destroyed, roof torn off, windows blown out of buildings. Even Tropicana Field had some damage. It's going to be a long time for the state to recover for sure.

Milton is finally off the coast now and only some wind and rain on the backside of the storm remains for the East Coast.

I've been seeing lots of damage and videos coming out of FL this morning. The tornadoes with this system really caused problems even for location far away from the center such as Miami. Lots of trailer parks destroyed, roof torn off, windows blown out of buildings. Even Tropicana Field had some damage. It's going to be a long time for the state to recover for sure.

Milton is finally off the coast now and only some wind and rain on the backside of the storm remains for the East Coast.

It will take time to recover, but Florida government and citizens all have their sh!t together as a rule of thumb, I think it'll be quicker than you'd think. But certainly glad to see Milton weakened pretty substantially prior to landfall and also that it wobbled just enough to drop south of Tampa proper. I was watching some of Reed Timmer's live feeds last night, it still looked insane.

Oh I agree Dave! FL has great leadership in place to handle it. The strange thing about this storm was that the front end storm surge and wind wasn't as bad as predicted which is good, but the winds and storm surge on the backside of the storm was where a lot of the damage occurred.

The surge in northern Florida with Helene was much higher and the main reason is you had a couple of days with the waters coming ashore compared to say less than 12 hours. This makes a difference and not sure models are even programmed to figure this part of the equation.

Tornado's and the outbreak was greater than was predicted. I have no ideal about the mets in Florida and if they were on top of this but Tuesday night when I saw those water spouts in the western GOM I thought this is no doubt going to be a system with above normal tornado's. Hopefully they were on top of this since this is their local weather and they would have a better handle on this possibility.

Same Tim... I saw a video where a tornado flipped over a couple of cars on the road. The tornadoes with this system were something else! Usually you get the quick spin up's but that was not the case with Milton thanks to a lot of super cells as you mentioned earlier.

I saw video footage on Fox News where Milton ripped the canvas roof to shreds off Tropicana Field. Also footage of where a crane toppled onto a newspaper company bldg in Tampa destroying some offices.

Sadly 5 were killed at a retirement community in Fort Pierce.
