It will cost us all in the end with higher grocery prices (like we need more of that!) So in the end, I'd rather sacrifice nice weather and outdoor plans. But that's just me.

But for outdoor activities like Bocce ball e.g. the fair wx comes in handy. Yesterday evening in the Bocce ball league games my Dad and I played two with friends from our neighborhood community, Alex and Kathy, and they beat us in both games, and that after they spent a week in Branson, MO. :camptrailer:

Hopefully we can do better this evening vs some other friends, Bob and Krista! :thumbupright:
Bob and Krista won Game 1 and my Dad and I Game 2! :)

Dad and I have a BYE week next week and that fits well as my sister will be coming up from NC for a few days! :)

Good morning and I got a ground wetter from the leftover tropical wave last evening. :o That was more then I was expecting. We're back to being 100% dry again and the heat returning by Fri and Sat. Late Mon into Tues of next week is our next chance for rain and it looks minimal at this time. Cooler temps, in the upper 70s to lower 80s is showing up towards the end of next week. Could Sat be the last 90 of the season? I sure as heck hope so! But with this ongoing drought, it's tough to rule it out. Towards Day 10 or so, we are still watching the tropics and if any interaction can occur with an Eastern US trough. This would be towards the end of the month.

The only state that saw widespread good rains was North Carolina

A slim chance mind you, but the 6Z GFS has an interesting solution for next week. A front moves in Wed afternoon and evening and stalls over us thanks to a hurricane moving northward in the Gulf. It is going to be all about timing and we just won't have much of an idea about the interaction between that front and the hurricane in the Gulf (assuming it develops) until early next week. The hurricane's rainfall misses us to the East but at least it slows that front down long enough for some half way decent rainfall for the region. Best case scenario would be for that front to stall to our West so that we can get the hurricane's moisture in here but that is a tall order since our luck with the tropics this year has been terrible.

My folks and I have a friend from our NC days who went to Topsail Beach in the southeast part of that state late last week and who is still there. Parts of that region got from between 15 to 20 inches!

There was some wind damage to trees near Mt. Airy, NC in the western Foothills where my sister, her mil, and my niece reside.

EU AI has shown this general idea for a few days, and has been on a hot streak in sniffing out long range events, so something to watch but as you mentioned , it also shows a miss to the east with beneficial rains

Well over half the state of Ohio will be in severe drought and over a quarter will be in extreme to exceptional. SE Indiana and Northern KY will be in severe to extreme. Unbelievable

IMO this is the worst drought that I have seen in our local area since the big drought of 1988. The only difference between then versus now was that the heat back in 1988 was much more intense with many days of 100+.

It’s been a harvest fest out here all week, farmers hitting hard. Dust particles floating in the air nonstop

That stat is simply incredible! I think the last time I mowed was the last week of August. There's nothing to mow now. Leaves are dropping so once they get thick enough it'll be leaf grinding season. I'd say most people's lawns are done until Spring of 2025 unless they have been watered regularly. For Sept, CVG is still at a record setting 0.07" for total monthly precip.

Never thought I’d see the sight of dead grass every where in Indian Hill , where the soil is as rich as the residents.

87 here today. CVG looks to have hit 90 within the past 20 mins. I'll wait to update the contest thread per the 5pm climate report of course to be sure. I expect Fri and Sat to be at 90 plus. Perhaps even tomorrow now too since we overachieved today.

EDIT: Sunday may also come close. So we could tack on 4 more after today potentially. Wow!
