While the ATL and East Pac basins are currently quiet, the West Pac has two waves 91W and 92W. Both of which have a high chance of development per the JTWC's website.

We now have TD 06W. This one is expected to become a tropical storm and parallel the Japanese Coast well off shore.

TD 06W is now TS Maria. The latest track from the JTWC has it recurving into the N. Japanese Islands in about 4-5 days.

The West Pac is heating up! Maria is now a weakening TD so this is the last update on her. We now have TS Son-tinh which is going to curve to the north to impact the northern most Japanese Islands. Then we have TS Ampil which is expected to become a typhoon. This one is forecast to brush Japan that recurve off to the NE. Finally, we have TD 9W which is expected to become a TS but not impact any land at this time.

The only ones left on the board are TS Ampil and TD 9W is now TS Wukong. Ampil is still expected to become a typhoon, brush Japan then recurve back out to sea. No impacts to land are expected from Wukong.

We now have TS Shanshan and this one looks to become a typhoon and impact Japan in about 4 or 5 days from now. It should impact the southern part of the country well south of Tokyo.

Good Evening and nice to see some action and especially closer to Japan. We know storms in the pacific can become quite active even during the fall and winter months. Getting these storms near Japan that curve is usually a sign for eastern half of the USA getting a cool down in usually about 7-10 days, Hopefully we see more of these over the next 6 months

Shanshan is now a typhoon. This one is going to slam into Japan and weaken considerably over the island chain. We did get a recurver now though with Ampil last week Tim to your point.
