Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
I'm going to cut the rest of the spinach after work today. Then, I hope to maybe this weekend get some of the garden planted. We'll see how things go!

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
My back is broke LOL but it's done! Bush bean, wax bean, and KY White 1/2 runner bean seeds are in the ground. I have three beef steak tomato plants in.... the usual spice rack that I post about every year, garlic chive pot is out (just add water and you're done), and flowers are also in! Also spread some mulch and sowed some more grass seed / straw. Cleaned the shed gutters out too! Everything has been watered minus the grass seed, which is being watered now via the sprinkler. I still need to mow the lawn but that will have to wait until after work tomorrow as long as the t-storms hold off of course. I am completely exhausted and need to rest for the rest of today. I'm even too tired to take some pics and post 'em in this thread! I will do so down the road.

I got all the tomato stakes in the ground and will probably plant tomorrow evening. We’ll see about the peppers and cucumbers for tomorrow. The ground is worked up and ready.

Planted everything last evening. Cucumbers, tomatoes , zucchini’s, peppers, some more peas and lettuce . Light rain overnight just about perfect for watering in. Never thought I’d be planting tomatoes and peppers in April but there’s a first time for everything

I agree! The rainfall totals are absolutely perfect as well as the intensity of the rain with a few mod to hvy pockets at times. I'd love to see 70s and 80s continue all summer with rain every 3-4 days. Of course that will never happen but one can dream!

Been seeing quite a few snakes the past week . Mostly black snakes, a couple of 4footers and yesterday a good 6 foot monster

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
Noooooooo thank you! I saw a little gardener snake down by the creek when I was mowing last week. That was enough for me.

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
I wonder perhaps rat snakes?
I had a snake of that kind enter my finished basement bedroom when I resided in Raleigh, NC from a nearby woods through a hole somewhere and I thought at first that it was a water moccasin, but thankfully was just a non venomous rat snake. My folks called the police and an officer woman came and retrieved it out from under my chest of drawers bureau. She put it in a carton for transport and I was so relieved and very grateful to her for having helped my Dad and I. We patched up the hole where it had entered.

I'm not a snake fan either bro.
My Dad ran over and killed a copperhead one time in southern VA on some property of some friends of ours.

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
Beans are finally beginning to pop, esp. the KY White Half Runners! I have some flowers on my tomato plants now also. Everything else that was planted is doing well with this warm and wet pattern. I like it! Saves me from having to water. I need to mow the lawn though again. Hoping to do it tomorrow afternoon before the heavy stuff gets here for next week.

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
Thank you Sir! Finally got the lawn finished. Man it was wet and muddy still but it had to be done due to the forecast for the upcoming week. More bush and wax beans are coming up now! Wonderful weather pattern for our lawns and gardens at least.

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
I haven't posted pics or made a gardening update video yet, but I will post a quick update. I have flowers and some little green tomatoes now on all of the tomato plants. Spices are doing good, been cutting some for cooking esp parsley! I have a ton of it! Green beans are doing great! Starting to get some buds now developing which will of course turn into flowers and eventually beans down the road. The KY white half runners are still climbing. No buds on them yet. Flowers are doing great also in the front yard. I've been fertilizing everything every couple of weeks when they needed water. I am being careful not to overwater either in between rains. I have made that mistake in the past before.

Took the time on this beautiful day to get my yard cut. Total I’m on just under an acre of land, and also got the power washer out and gave the house a bath.

Thanks Les! Moles are really tunneling right now, and I’ve been trying to get them gone for over a year now with no luck. They have been tearing up my yard.

I've got a few too I've been dealing with. My Brother has probably killed over 15 so far this year.szystorm564 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2024 3:36 pmThanks Les! Moles are really tunneling right now, and I’ve been trying to get them gone for over a year now with no luck. They have been tearing up my yard.

Glad I burnt my brush pile a few weeks ago as things will be getting dry around here now.szystorm564 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2024 7:32 pm That and I got to get the hole filled where I used to have a pool, and I have a lot of stuff to burn too.
