Folks... this is why we don't get a lot of snow events here. This low is doing the rare spine of the Apps track. Granted it is not running the entire length of the mountains as in March 2008, but it's thru the southern spine that it will go and that is always a key spot for a surface low to be for heavy snow in our area.

Snow is back to light status after a brief 30 min flurry period. Starting to see some light accum on the grass in front of the house that gets shaded from sunlight in the winter.

Please post if you see lightening or hear thunder. Lapse rates are best in West KY 7.0 to 7.5 but they are as high as 6.5 in Cincinnati. Some very weak CAPE as far north as Louisville and -LI's are far away down in TN.

The snow is starting to stick better now to non-paved surfaces. A nice steady diet now of light snow before the good stuff arrives.

Check out the speckled / puffy nature of the cloud tops. This is a visible shot before the sun goes down here soon. This is neat!

Les I noticed that yesterday the thunderstorms might break out in Tn. I see on severe warning in central Tn. When I saw that yesterday with the noon time models it really changed the forecast of this system. Cold front went just enough south that we are able to keep the cold air for the entire storm and the later arrival is just what the doctor ordered

Weather perfection Tim! It's not a strong storm, but the right things came together for this event to happen. The low track really couldn't be better. Too bad it couldn't phase with the Gulf energy down there. This would have been a block buster! We are getting a small phase though. Just enough to make the storm more interesting.tpweather wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 5:37 pm Les I noticed that yesterday the thunderstorms might break out in Tn. I see on severe warning in central Tn. Per critical thicknesses, everything should be snow now for all posters. See blue 1300 line.

About 1.5 - 1.75 inches so far in Huber heights. I think 4-5 is attainable up here looking at the radar.
Edit: easily 2 inches now in Huber heights.

From reading it sounds like we just got some 'bonus snow'. I was less than an inch in the daytime and 1-3 tonight. Now its 2-4 more

Wow! This storm deserves the hammer once again! An area wide event that everyone can enjoy! Sure, some of us get more snow then others but everyone gets a period of heavy snow this evening. Speaking of which , I am at 30 / 27 and everything is covered. Street, driveway, etc. Roads are probably getting messy about now. Heavy snow falling here vis about 1/4 mile. I have 1/2 to 3/4" on the ground.
