Mod to hvy snow being reported in IND and Muncie, IN too. I-70 Crew get ready!!! You guys will see it first then those of us in the Cincy area later. Fine by me... I should be able to get home from work without issue.

Using the 1pm OBS over KY, at the time, CVG had 39, Bowling Green was at 50 degrees, Looking at surface winds.... most stations were reporting E to NE winds, which means the low will pass to our south. I am wondering if the low will be north passing across extreme S KY which would be perfect for us on this forum. I say that because Bowling Green, Hopkinsville, and Somerset, KY were reporting SE winds. Middlesboro in the SE portion of the state has due S winds.

Looking at the radar you can see the banding nature of this storm.

Radar sure does look nice! I can't wait to see what those heavy returns look like from the St. Louis area thru ILL and now starting to push into Western IN.

18z also bounced back to a 4-5PM start time. Should be 6-7 hours of snow.

I sure have no complaints. I'm not seeing any red flags either. SPC Mesopage updated and the low is now 1010 MB crossing the MS river near Memphis. While not strong.... there is some moisture transport occurring in the 850 and 925 MB levels from the SW. At this time, the best 700 MB frontogenic forcing is along the I-70 corridor in IN and now getting into Ohio,. That will move SE with time to impact us down here in Cincy later this afternoon and into the evening hours.

Hey Les, maybe a hammer time appearance? You know we can’t go an entire winter without seeing that certain rapper… lol

Originally.... the hammer came out when we were under a winter storm warning and that other guy, when we had an ice storm warning. Being that this winter has been so bad, let me think about it. I hate having to lower the bar you know. I cannot post it from the customer side anyway so it will have to wait until later once I am home.

How about this Pete.... (I won't see it until I get home), but if we get an 18Z NAM'ing... I won't have a choice but to post it.

Ok, is there that possibility that this could be upgraded to a WSW with some places getting 4+?

Sounds like a good deal to me, Les

Outside chance at a winter storm warning. Not predicting that, but the 4 inch threshold is certainly an outside possibility. However, even if that occurs ILN will probably be too late in issuing one anyway.tron777 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:27 pmOriginally.... the hammer came out when we were under a winter storm warning and that other guy, when we had an ice storm warning. I kind of doubt it since those kind of amounts should be isolated. But if the heavier banding turns out to be more widespread, then I suppose there is always a chance, but I wouldn't bet on it. On the other hand, one could get issued as the snow is pulling away in classic old school ILN fashion!winterstormjoe wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:36 pm Ok, is there that possibility that this could be upgraded to a WSW with some places getting 4+?

Yeah, I think we're all on the same page with ILN thinking!tron777 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:41 pmI kind of doubt it since those kind of amounts should be isolated. I actually just saw the 18Z NAM and it has a nice band of snow right thru the Metro. Anyone got a quick snow map that can be posted before I leave for the drive home?

I'm not trying to steal people from the forum, but does anyone want to open up a chat in WhatsApp or Discord, Facebook chat, etc...
Unless there a way to do it here?
I want to be able to post in real-time and chat quickly and easily share photos etc.

Made it to Wausau. Ran into some decent snow in western Indiana and eastern Illinois this morning. What is the latest since I just sat down but wanted to find out from the experts. Lovely 18 degrees up here and plenty of snow on the ground and will take pics later
