Trevor wrote: Sat Mar 25, 2023 5:26 am Moderate risk bust yesterday. However there was a long tracking supercell that produced a large tornado in MS as seen in the attached map. That thing was a beast! Other than that, not much to speak of in the MDT risk.
I don’t know Trev , I wouldn’t call that a bust at all. Those risk areas to me mean somewhere in that particular zone a strong tornado is likely and that is what happened. Just because a larger number didn’t happen I don’t think I’d call it a bust
Risk categories are based on coverage and intensity of the storms. MDT def didn’t verify.

One significant, long track tornado in the MDT zone of highest tornado potential doesn’t verify the outlook.

Further, a vast majority of storm reports were outside of the mdt zone. Rural MS may factor into that, but there were a ton of chasers out that were relaying reports.

Have I mentioned how much of a pain the wind has been?
At least today’s blowing will help dry us out some.

Pretty noticeable increase in wind strength even between a short distance. (Stronger here in Lebanon than it was in Blue Ash).

Yes was really hoping Bobby Hurley's Xavier Musketeers e.g. could pull it off vs the Texas Longhorns! ;)

When I lived in NC I enjoyed watching Bobby, Christian Laettner and Cherokee Parks e.g. play! 8-)

Currently 43 with a gust of 38 mph here in G'ville and progged to get down to around 30 Sun morning. Then a mild 55 on Sun! :sunny:

Prayers and thoughts with all those communities. :( Areas like Rolling Fork e.g. obliterated.

Heard that Rolling Fork is a low income area and perhaps the people there can't afford a NOAA radio or other wx-relay device. Also having occurred at night is more than likely why the high toll.

Things will calm down for a delightful Sunday! Sunshine and the lower 60s! Small rain chances Sun night thru Tues. Nothing too major with these weak systems . A bigger shot of rain on Friday into April Fool's Day. Lots of 50 / 60s next week for highs with U30s / 40s for lows. Nice early spring temps. Good for grass, spinach, etc early things like that to grow. Almost time for morel mushroom huntin'

Good Evening and beautiful down here in SC. Heading home on Sunday. Just to show you how cold its been in the northern plains many areas have been 15 degrees below normal for March. No wonder the snow is having a hard time to melt. Locally we are just near normal for March after the first two months were well above normal. Next week looks pretty much what you would expect in late March as just enough warmth to tease us but we no its usually mid-late April before spring is ready to take off.

Thank you all for the kind words. It was a beautiful day and we had a very nice service. He would always ask me what my weather friends had to say when he heard a storm was forecast. Next summer some of his ashes will go to Canada where he fished for many years.

Light rain here this morning. It doesn't look to amount too much. Still looking at only small chances until Friday. Friday ending early Sat still looks likely. Any severe wx to be determined.

Good Morning and Les your forecast looks good. Severe weather will most likely be determined by timing later this week. The pattern is showing signs of changing to a more late March-early April pattern. This means chances for showers and thundershowers every 3-5 days and temps in the low 60's during the day. Severe season has already started strong and looks to continue over the next couple of weeks. Still expecting massive flooding on the Mississippi once the snow melts in the northern plains and there is a heavy snow pack in that area. Hopefully a slow process up there but if they get a couple of rainy systems along with a push of warm air then that along with severe weather will be the big stories. We are getting to the point here that flooding on the Ohio River is less likely unless some freak loaded rain storm hits and the reason is very little snow pack to the places that feed into the Ohio River. Sure always a rise in spring but so far looking good.
