Gary Rossington

Gary Rossington the last original member of the southern rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd died on March 5th and he was 71 years old. Back in 1977 I had tickets to see them at the old Riverfront Coliseum and 3 weeks before that the famous plane crash that killed Ronnie Van Zant the leader of the band and others. I remember earlier that year Elvis had died and I saw my mom cry and was not quite understanding how you could cry for somebody you had no connection too. I found out shortly why folks cry and MUSIC is so powerful and I was just in shock for weeks. Yes I saw them later in 1987 when they got the remaining members and a few others to reform the band and they were great. Skynyrd is always in my top 10 rock groups of all times and probably makes my top 5.
