tron777 wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 3:45 pm Per radar trends, it is almost a virtual lock I'll be seeing some rain here shortly. Hope you can see some also Mike! Bgoney may wanna put in a request as well.
Not this go round, the cluster really fizzled out, a couple of sprinkles, maybe three. Hoping my thoughts from a couple days ago pan out in that Wednesday and Thursday are the most widespread rains. With the upper level low creaping ever so slowly closer overnight im expecting overnight/ early morning rains to be widespread, at least hoping so , with good chances the rest of wed/Thurs
It fizzled for this area too as far as heavy rain amounts go. Just a few hundredths, that was it. All good for my hood as the yard was still wet when I mowed it around lunchtime. Looks like the lack of shear really did us in for storm organization. I absolutely hope you cash in this week. :) I think most areas should the next 48 hours especially.

Evening update from the boys:

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING/...
Convective cells in the southeast, and again north of metro
Columbus will continue to progress slowly northeastward this
afternoon. These showers and storms will behave in a similar
manner to those earlier today - downstream shadow which will
inhibit future development and limit the strength of ongoing
storms.

This much activity will become more stratiform overnight with
embedded clusters of stronger storms, then a low level stream of
moisture on 25-30kt southerly winds on the southeast side of the
h8 low will kick in. This stream will result in a widespread
area of showers and deeper convection that will cross from
central KY into the southwest CWA before daybreak.

Overnight lows will drop fairly uniformly to the upper 60s.
Rainfall in any of these cores will be very efficient and the
threat for the next several days will be that of flooding. While
the flooding threat will be enhanced, did not have enough
confidence in a flood watch in the southwest 1/4 of forecast
area late tonight into early Wed.

Bgoney wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 7:15 pm Cold weather is settling in across eastern Australia, focusing very much on snow, strong winds, and flood-inducing rains across multiple states, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) warned Tuesday, June 8, 2021. The wild weather is a result of an Antarctic cold pushed up from the Southern Ocean, prompting warnings across New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania, and Queensland.

In Victoria, wind gusts of around 80 km/h (50 mph) and freezing temperatures produced a snowstorm on Mt. Buller Monday, June 7, while temperatures around the state dropped below 10 °C (50 °F). East of Adelaide, heavy hail coated the streets on the Mount Lofty Ranges.

The powerful cold front, which originated in Antarctica, is expected to create a cut-off low-pressure system over NSW, which will gradually move east and produce rain, snow, and even hail across Victoria, NSW, and southern Queensland.
Wow! Pretty wild Aussie weather! I'm sure most folks remember the recent drought and deadly fires they had? Now the other extreme... :o

Good morning all! About 0.20" here and 0.23" at CVG as of 6am. Not going to make any wholesale changes to the forecast so we'll see how the radar trends look as we go along today. Light rain over a lot of the Tri-state this morning which should help some folks who have missed out. Our Eastern counties and I-70 Crew still await some love here.

Good Morning and a nice steady light rain at my house this morning. The problem is the rain is not uniformed so some folks getting plenty of rain while others not so much. That is why some of the totals the Euro showed really made little sense and making a forecast based off that model would have been a bust. I am nearing 1.5 so far this week and that is probably one of the high totals. The good thing is another few days where everyone has a chance of rain and this weekend will be very warm and muggy and can we get the first 89 or 90 degree day. I believe that day would be Sunday as a front heads this way and as we know being just south of these fronts that bring in refreshing air can produce a spike just ahead of the front.

We should see a nice cool down next week with more pleasant and drier air as time goes on. U70s to L80s with lows in the U50s to L60s across our area I think is very possible for a few days next week. That'll feel nice before the warmth returns. :)

The models always had this as the day most likely to see rain for and extended period. Seems that is correct though I know some folks in SE Indiana may not have got to much rain but the low clouds are hanging in tight and with very little wind involved and a rather soggy ground it's going to hard to get much in the way of sun even for early June.

Today the llj is near us but slightly east and that is why folks east of I-71 are getting the constant rains. Interesting with the low pressure as their is spin involved with the low and these kind of lows can spin up a funnel cloud and even sometimes a tornado that reaches the ground. These are usually the lower end type but yesterday they had one in Evansville and with the low moving slowly the next two days would not be surprised to see a funnel cloud or even weak tornado and again not a severe outbreak by any means but something to follow.

More light rain here over the last 30 mins. 0.34" here as of 12pm and at CVG. I'd say this area has seen 2" of rain total since we began forecasting and tracking the event earlier this week. Models have done great for CVG, but have of course failed in other areas. That's what you get in the summer time though when you're dealing with t-storms.

0.6" so far today combined with 0.55" on Monday. I might hatch more mosquitoes than cicadas and I have thousands of cicadas.

A break here, but a few more showers are getting ready to move back in that could add a few more hundredths to the pot.

Nothing much if anything up my way today.

At least still have Thurs-Fri for hopefully some more to add to my .30" from Mon. :thumbupright:

Redlegs and Brewers should be able to get another game in this evening. :)

Currently 73 here in G'ville.

Right at 0.50” for the day. Saw a nice roll cloud this evening and was expecting to see a line of storms on the radar but only saw a few light showers. Guess this just isn’t our year for storms.

Also saw a tweet from SPC - still preliminary data, but this would be the first May ever with zero EF3 or greater tornado reports.

Really has been a strange lackluster Spring t-storm-wise for sure here in the OV.
