Annual CVG Snowfall Contest for 2022-2023

Post by tron777 »

It is that time of year again folks for the 2022-2023 Annual snowfall contest at CVG! Same rules as always. The contest runs from Nov 1st to Mar 31st. Oct or April snow which is loved and cherished... does not count towards this contest. You have two challenges. Predict the first accumulating snowfall at CVG. 0.1" or more. Remember, a trace doesn't count. Then, how much total snowfall will CVG receive for the season?

To help you in your quest for victory, here are some snowfall stats for CVG. Avg date for the first accum snowfall of 0.1" or more is 11/28. CVG's seasonal avg is 23.3".

Please submit your contest entries by Halloween Night, October 31 at midnight.

Example of your official contest entry for any newcomers who would like to play:

When will CVG receive the first snowfall accumulation? 12/7
Total snowfall for CVG Nov 1 - Mar 31: 21.7"

Thank you for entering and Good Luck to all! May all of our snowfall dreams come true! :cheerleaderguy: :rockout: :snowman:

It's going to be a tough call, tougher then normal. The things we are seeing lining up, have rarely occurred (like the Triple Dip Nina for instance) We have little to go on, but here's my guess! Good luck to you all! :) Going to play it conservatively and go right with avg, for snow fall.

When will CVG receive the first snowfall accumulation? November 25th
Total snowfall for CVG Nov 1 - Mar 31: 23.4"

Good Afternoon and another contest I may lose in the last few days lol..

First snow of the season 11/23/22

Total for the season will be 33.6 inches. That is rather high but I will state my reasons on my winter outlook hopefully next week before I head to Hilton Head.

Great call! Seems like we've had a lot of sleet fests the last couple years!

I love the bonus sleet call too! If we get another sleet fest in February, we'll have to officially add a mixed precip category and start tracking freezing rain accumulations. If I'm not mistaken, sleet is usually counted towards snow totals, even though sleet is not snow in my opinion so I'd like to keep it separate for the contest also. This is something we can discuss in the off season to make next year's contest more fun!

Grandpa Wooly here at the woodpile. I've been watching all the telltale signs along with my doodads and gadgets. The white pine needles are thick on the ground, the hickory nuts are bigger and plentiful. My friends the squirrels are working like crazy. Here is what I've come up with:

First snow 12/17/22
Total amount. 22.5"

Congrats Jeff (Snowbrain2) for winning Part 1 of our snowfall contest! 1.2" at CVG today which is a new snowfall record for the day! Old record was 0.7" set back in 2013. Nice to be on the board! :)

Congratulations Snowbrain! I didn't measure Saturday but mine was very pretty, nice fluffy flakes. We have two large terra cotta Jack O Lanterns that sit on our front porch until Thanksgiving, they looked like they were wearing white fluffy hats. It was a nice, festive sight to see. Snows like that are my favorite, when the temps are cold but not "frigid" so you get those nice big flakes. Hope we get that once a week from now until March!
