Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
I'll probably plant my squash, Tom's and peppers and cucumbers Thursday evening. Raised the cucs and squash from seed Indoors and by Thursday the acclimation process for them will be sufficient to plant out.

Sounds awesome! Love cucs! Great in a salad or I like to dip them in ranch dressing.

Got the rest of the flowers and mulch spread. Watered everything too so we are off and running here! Just have to mow, trim, and edge the lawn tomorrow and I am about caught up for now on the usual spring time antics.

My squash and cuc plants await. Probably wait until Friday evening to plant . That should give them a couple cloudy days and less heat to adjust

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
The plants look great, Bgoney! Oh and what a nice mouser you have too! Got everything done here, now just watch and wait as things grow. Don't have any bean pics to show yet, waiting for seeds to sprout. Tomatoes, spices, flowers etc are off and running. I was too pooped to post pics after all of the work outside the last couple of days (and mushroom hunting last two weeks to boot) I am tired!

Beans starting to pop now both kinds, bush and white half runners. Had to put the netting on today so the birds don't clip 'em off.

Got 2 little green tomatoes now. Beans continue to pop and grow. Cut some fresh chives for dinner the other day! Other spices can be plucked for recipes whenever now.

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
I took a few pics today of the ongoing progress of some of the flowers and crops. Not all beans have sprouted yet in these photos and not all flowers and flower pots are shown. Just some of the highlights basically here lol
Spice Rack: Oregano, Dill, Thyme, and Basil
Parsley, garlic chives, White half runners beans... these are pole beans and will eventually starting climbing up the cages.... Tomatoes
Bush Beans - Not all have come up yet
Flower box by the porch out front. I caught my slipper in there LOL

Lookin good Les, love the spice rack by the window, if that's the kitchen window you can just reach right out and harvest while your cooking

Thanks! Unfortunately, that is a basement window and the kitchen window is upstairs. My Dad built that rack, and painted it 2 or 3 years ago.

Les,
Another safe remedy for keeping wild critters away from your flower bed and garden might be to have a coach-style whistle and blow it to chase 'em away. The neighbors may wonder what's going on and if you've "lost your mind" but there's a woman 3 houses down on another street behind my neighborhood street area who blows hers at times to keep the wild rabbits away.

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
So far, those issues are resolved by putting netting over the bean plants until they get a little bigger then they will be fine and I'll remove the netting. Also pave some old little pie tins that those little chocolate pies come in from the grocery store. I saved some of the empty pie tins, and took some string, tied them on to the cages I have around the white half runner bean pots and that has kept the critters out from digging in the dirt. The wind has been banging them around good lately keeping the animals out!MVWxObserver wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 7:00 pm Les,

Re: Lawn & Garden Thread
Thanks Bro! Once the white half runners start climbing up the tomato cages, they'll be no stopping them! I should be picking these probably in late June ir early July I am guessing? I should get the regular bush beans a couple of weeks earlier then the white half runners. Takes them longer to mature then the bush beans.
