Re: Kitchen Sink Storm Feb 2-4, 2022
We transitioned from rain right to sleet. No freezing rain that I could see. We lost electric at 1 am and it just came back on. Looking outside I would say an inch of sleet with a dusting of snow overtop.
Re: Kitchen Sink Storm Feb 2-4, 2022
So I measured 5.5” to 6” snow plus an inch or so of sleet below.

tons of rain and flooding here probably 3 inches of rain so far and will rain all day yet. not sure if this is just a mid winter thaw or the end. I dont see a lot of cold and snow in the near future so winter may in fact be a wrap for all i know. my snowpack is down to almost just piles now

I think we've got a few more tricks up our sleeves still before spring arrives. It will be quiet for a bit since this has been a major storm that has taken 3 days to move thru the Ohio Valley.airwolf76 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 9:49 am tons of rain and flooding here probably 3 inches of rain so far and will rain all day yet. not sure if this is just a mid winter thaw or the end. Re: Kitchen Sink Storm Feb 2-4, 2022
The snow looked nice for about 15 min...It just whitened the cleared path that the plow scraped off an hour ago on my street.
I'm going to see how the snow blower can tackle this caked ice on my driveway later on today. Ugh!

It's snowing lightly and the sun is peaking out, I wonder if a little sun will enhance these snow showers later on?

Re: Kitchen Sink Storm Feb 2-4, 2022
From the boys:
.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Upper level shortwave swings through the region today and keeps
scattered snow showers in the forecast through this afternoon.
While additional light accumulations of less than an inch are
expected, there are still many roadways that are snow covered
and numerous high-level snow emergencies throughout our CWA.
Thus, have decided to extend the Winter Weather Advisory through
3 PM as roadways still remain treacherous for many locations.
Colder air continues to funnel in as an Arctic air mass settles
across the Ohio Valley. Daytime temperatures will struggle to
increase more than about 5 degrees today, with highs in the
upper teens north of I-70 to middle 20s south of the OH River.
Winds should subside a bit and gusts will diminish with the
looser pressure gradient, but still expecting northerly winds
of about 5-10 mph. This should limit the amount of blowing snow
today compared to yesterday.
As night falls, skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy
(other than a brief period of clearing this evening), and
additional upper level energy from the Great Lakes will keep a
chance for flurries and even some scattered snow showers for
many counties north of the OH River. Have increased PoPs for a
handful of our counties tonight with a chance for light
accumulating snow. Any snow that does form should be light and
scattered in nature, but with very cold pavement temperatures,
the snow should have no problem sticking to surfaces. As for
temperatures overnight, we still expect bitter cold wind chills
below zero for all of our counties. Portions of western IN and
west-central OH will observe the coldest wind chills, but
increased cloud coverage has kept low temperatures a smidge
warmer compared to previous forecasts. Will continue to hold off
on a Wind Chill Advisory for now and may just handle with an
SPS if this trend continues. However, cannot rule out isolated
spots reaching near or just below -10 degree wind chill values.

1.25 mile vis at CVG with this last band.

I seriously doubt that a snowblower will even make the smallest dent in all this ice and sleetwinterstormjoe wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 9:53 am The snow looked nice for about 15 min...It just whitened the cleared path that the plow scraped off an hour ago on my street.

Partly cloudy here with a bit of sun too. 24 degrees. Going to put down 4" of sleet / snow combined for this event imby.
Re: Kitchen Sink Storm Feb 2-4, 2022
I measured 3" sleet, then I measured 4" snow at the woodpile.
