Lapse rates are better to the SW so the squalls have a better chance to develop there. Fine with me, I'll take the moderate snows I am receiving currently just fine. :)

No doubt Les we have hit the bewitching hour of 2pm where the sun has less influence and if you get snow to come down at at light to moderate pace it can start to stick quite easily. Getting a heavy snow squall are the ones that can really cause the problems though on the roads.

It's hammering on down here... so gorgeous!!! I don't mind shoveling again if this keeps up a few more hours.

Update as of 12:45 from the boys:

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Cold front has pushed south of the forecast area, and associated
snow will continue to slowly taper off through the afternoon.
The only exception to this is in the Tri-State region, where an
additional band of 850mb convergence and associated
frontogenesis, centered in central Indiana, provides additional
light snow into the early evening hours.

Temperatures will fall quickly through the 20s and into the
upper teens in some areas by early evening.

Les, I hope to see that heavier band I've been seeing on radar drifting south from Brookville to just south of Dayton get us in a little bit, it seems to have lost it's luster a bit?

Radar looks fine to me. Still have light snow here with a fresh 1/4" from when I shoveled.

I never like to overly criticize the NWS like some people do (CB for example), but they really should expand the advisory. That batch of steady to moderate snow will be hitting right around rush hour with cooling temps. Main treated roads here are already starting to cover up again and the heavier stuff hasn’t even gotten here yet. Possible big problems incoming for the rush.

Thanks Bgoney, that other radar I was looking at wasn't doing justice for me. Lol

Band continues to intensify. Expect big time slow downs and some accidents shortly across the area. Take it slow out there and be safe!

Good call! Should bring most of us close to the 3” +/- 1/2” mark I would think.

It's slowed down, then gotten heavy, then down to mood flakes, but it has snowed in some capacity here all day long. It was snowing when I got up around 5 this morning. Not sure exactly as to when the event actually started.
