My boys' school made the call to go virtual (non-live) for the weather and possible power outages next two days. They are, however going to use a "Snow Dey" for the day after the SuperBowl.

Really hoping Xavier makes a call to close!

Only have the Euro to come in with its run but so far this morning the models have come in about 20 miles further south with the second wave. Seems like nothing but if this is true and the system itself is a few hours slower this causes changes in the forecast.

Lots of districts are or will be "making the call" for sure. I'll be doing that at my school later this afternoon.
My wife is an outpatient OT at St. E's in Edgewood and they were told that they would be closed tomorrow.

Pretty substantial shift south in the snowfall area between the 09z RAP and the 15z RAP. Interesting...

Trev models are shifting south this morning. May not be by much but the outcome has big issues when making a forecast that is already tough concerning precip types.

Indeed. We are getting into the kill zone for these higher-resolution models so future runs will probably iron out the precip type issues a bit more today.

Concerning issuing a ice storm warning compared to a winter storm warning is never an easy call. Both are bad and you have issues with both depending which one you throw out to the public. Ice Storm Warning means terrible frz/rain conditions but a Winter Storm Warning can cover so many different aspects of the storm. I really am not sold either way because I see both sides. We are on this site because we love the weather but many folks would not understand or really care about which one was put out. I don't know if one is considered worse than the other to the public.

To me at depends on the dominant precip type. If it's the kitchen sink, a winter storm warning is fine. If it's mainly frz rain, then it'd an ice storm warning. We are right on the edge of both headlines here Tim at our locations. It can go either way for us. I think counties S of us should be under the ice storm warning IMO.

This is good news for us snow weenies, looking at these two maps definitely shows that the second wave is weaker as the snow totals in Indy have come down some and that this weaker second wave is further SE.

Sounds like we're ready to rock n roll Tim! We are awaiting the rain to pass us by so the front can drop in to change us over late tonight. We should be waking up to frz rain in the morning for our hoods.
