Nice band of snow up I-71 into Warren Co. Next band should be in my hood in 20-30 mins from Indy. Nice and snowy from IND on northbound as well.

2” plus at the Arboretum… this measurement was from 7:30am before the recent band.

Nice! 1.5 to 2" probably here too.
Remeasured, right on the dime at 2" now at Arb.

Pretty big band of snow from Indy to Lafayette, if it holds together it looks like it could drop a quick inch or two.

BG talked about it in the video and radar trends confirm. Watch the little spin out in ILL. That is your Meso low at work causing these bands of snow to develop. It is energy that will be feeding into the developing low off the FL coast for the New England Crippler.

Brief update from the boys as of 9:30 am
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Cold front is sliding south through the region this morning
with some frontogenetic forcing producing light snow. Have
increased PoPs accordingly with additional accums likely to be
around half an inch... particularly south of I-70.
Behind the front, temperatures will fall quickly through the 20s
and into the upper teens in some areas by late in the day.

Two inches at my house. Very fluffy snow but ice underneath. Driveway and sidewalks are clear for awhile. The snow showers through early afternoon should have little affect on the roads but what happens later this afternoon. I know the data is showing most of the enhanced snow showers to the southwest towards Louisville but we still need to watch this closely. Wherever it hits 15-30 minutes of a strong snow shower can mess up traffic for hours.

If that band N of Indy can swing down this way and hold together as Spacejunk (Dave) was mentioning, then we're in the game too. Close enough I am going to keep paying attn to lapse rates and snow squall parameter on the SPC meso site.

Les plenty of energy just flying around at the moment in the Ohio Valley. Mainly small pieces but if any of them can combine it can enhance the snow. A streak of snow off Lake MI. which is in a line towards central Illinois and looks like it connects to another piece of energy. Almost impossible to put out a forecast that is correct in all areas. If you get underneath a band of snow totals can reach a couple of inches but then you could miss it all together and end up with flurries. This is a true now cast and we try to use short term models but even they can have a hard time with all these features.

1.75 mile vis at CVG as of 10am. Snow has increased here again as well with that next band rolling in.

Funny the rgem has the snow up in northcentral Indiana as being the main player later today and really does not have so energy near St.Louis gain much in strength or produce to much snow for areas southwest of here. It really is a now cast folks and as these pieces of energy either gain or lose a little strength you will see different outcomes with the short term models.

Had to go outside for a moment to enjoy the snow falling to bring in the garbage cans. It'll be a pleasure shoveling in about an hour from now. 2" plus here. Grass is almost completely covered. Def my biggest snow to date.

The trough is sharpening up as that meso low moves thru, pivots, and rounds the base of the trough to feed the New England Beast later. This is creating lift ahead of the arctic front which is gong to squeeze out as much moisture as it can today. Even though this is not a crushing system for us, the meteorology behind is great and good for learning.

The RGEM and NAM are both putting out a narrow band of heavier accumulations through parts of Kentucky. By the look of the Indy radar I definitely would not be surprised. That area of snow is already overachieving in Indiana and looks to be heavier in the eastern part of Indiana than had been modeled.

Hopefully it drops more SE then due south. That's what I am looking for down this way.

The current band of snow is pretty but should cause no problems on the road since its not that heavy and we are in the middle of the day. After about 2 or 3pm is when you need to worry more about road conditions as the sun is already losing its grasp and with any heavier band of snow roads can get slick quickly.

12z NAM BUFKIT info for Boston, 36" snow and even has a 6 hour window of 3-5" per hour snowfall rates at the height of the storm (16z-21z SAT). Yowzas! Thundersnow will be likely.

It sure looks to be close for you. Tough to predict what will happen with these areas of heavier snow. They pulse up and down. Form and reform. I hope you can score!

Winter Weather Advisory issued for some SE IN and NKY counties until 10 tonight. I guess the NWS is counting on the snow out in Indiana affecting at least part of the area.
