If we see no more 90 degree days in Sept, then Mike will be our winner! Below is where we stand after August.

You've got a real shot at this IMO Mike. I think for the first week and some change, there will be too much clouds and / or rain to have a chance. I think a cool down is coming after this humid and wet pattern breaks as we approach mid month. If we get a ridge at some point (no idea if we will or not this early in time) then with the lush, green vegetation as well as the continued decrease in daylight going forward, should make it all that much more difficult. Once you get into Sept, 90s are tough unless you've got a "death ridge" and / or a drought going. Same with early October. We had some 90s early Oct 2007 for record breaking heat but we had a drought and the hottest Aug on record in 2007 at CVG so it makes since having a hot fall with these antecedent conditions. This year, is completely different since CVG has had plenty of rain going into Met. Fall.

I'm just like the Reds bullpen - can't hold on to a lead. Really pulling for Mike now since I'm perfectly fine with no more 90"s!

Can we hit 90 on Wed??? This might be the last bullet that Mike has to dodge or Do we have a 3 way tie for first place between Leslie, Dave and Tim? Tim being closer then the other two on 89'ed days at CVG would be the tie breaker so Tim would win this year should CVG hit 90 this week. If a miracle occurred and we hit 90 Tues and Wed then Eric would be the winner. Good luck to all still involved here. :)

I think Tim has a really good shot at winning this thing. 90 degrees for one more day seems pretty likely at this point. Of the 3 people who guessed 20 ninety degree days he would win the tiebreaker with a guess of 7 89's.

Good evening all! We will cover the temp at CVG hour by hour tomorrow from around 7 or 8am thru about 5pm in this very thread! We should crown a winner in that time. Again, please stay tuned to this thread for LIVE coverage of this event! :)

Mike does NOT want a 90. Tim wins if we get a 90 at CVG. Good luck Gentlemen! May the CVG Temp be with or without you! :drinkingcheers:

I believe I have lost a contest in the closing stages before. I wonder if any of the local news channels will be covering this huge event.

No fog to stop the temp rise this morning and a nice southerly flow as well. Crystal clear skies too. 8am reading now at 70. In case anyone was wondering, the record high for today will be safe at 97 set back in 1940.

LOL! I posted about our contest coming down to the wire on our AV Facebook page. (No forum member names or screen names were used in that post). I think personally, it's in the bag for you today Tim. Could even max out at 92 potentially if the dews don't get too high this afternoon.

Yeah I think it's in the bag for you Tim! Only caveat I see are those storms in northern Indiana not shown on the models - blowoff clouds could sneak down here and maybe keep a lid on 90? Time will tell but odds are def favoring 90+ at CVG.

A look at cloud cover and dews, which of course impact temps.

Hey Les I might be missing something but I saw after the month of August we had 18 90 degree days. Have we had a 90 degree day in September? Because Mike had 19 days and if we only have 18 so far he would be the winner. Maybe I am missing something which is very likey

Let me check... maybe there is an error. Yes there is. I had the data correct. My brain is what has malfunctioned. CVG is at 18 currently with a shot at 19 today. So with that stated, Mike you are the winner either way! Well crap! There goes my excitement and build up of today.
