My coldest is 7 and I believe 9 at CVG so let's see if we can beat that from the other morning.

Keep your eyes open for Fri / Sat.
most guidance is showing a new england storm . i will be too far inland to get anything substantial but a few inches for sure.

We may get tickled with some light snow here on Fri but a break out the shovel event is still not in site.

24 this morning imby... COLD thru midday Thurs then we warm up Thurs afternoon ahead of our light snow maker on Fri. Before we get there, Wed morning is bitter with lows 5 to 10 in a lot of places.

Still not seeing a lot of snow Thurs night and Friday but we'll take what we can get this season. QPF for CVG.

6Z NAM - ending 1pm Fri - 0.13"
6Z GFS - 0.06"
0Z Euro - 0.04"

I wish I had better news for the rest of January in the snowfall dept.

6Z Euro was a bit better for CVG - 0.07" now for Fri  So far.... one of those inch or less jobs for the area but I do think we will see some light snow falling anyway for your Friday. Wish I had better news in terms of numbers but I don't.

There is a little area of clear skies over you that allowed your hood to radiate this morning. Cloudy and the 20s everywhere else lol

For the month temp wise , we are at -1.4(mean) to normal, which puts us in the middle of the pack if only using the 2000s

0.07" from the 12Z GFS at CVG and it is also going SE of I-71 for the best chance for light snow on Friday. Maybe an inch or so in the SE.

Good Morning and nice post by Bgoney. I guess what makes the temperature a little unusual is hardly any snow on the ground for January so getting below normal really is a chore. Concerning later this week and with another cold shot coming in the front will try and squeeze out as much moisture as possible but if we get an inch I would be shocked and my guess most folks will get a dusting out of the system. Then we stay cold all weekend but next week the pattern will have changed and this should bring in some milder air. How warm will be determined by how much rain we receive. No snow cover to the south and west so yes we can easily get to 50 one day next week.

UKIE shows some light snow on Fri for the area. Nothing big some some festive flakes with a covering def possible. CMC has nothing other then a small band over Central KY. It had 1-2" on the overnight run.

12Z Euro develops a band of light snow Thurs evening on top of the Metro area. Periods of light snow continue thru Friday ending in the afternoon. 0.13" QPF. I've seen the RGEM and CMC a couple of times do the same thing and drop a couple of inches in the process. Best case scenario is that we see a band on top of us develop Thurs night and while the trough and shortwave pivots up the East Coast Friday to keep that band going over us as long as possible. SE Crew gets 0.20" at FGX.

Would love to see more support for this solution. Low chance of course to have the band this far west but not impossible.

Saw a couple reports in western Kansas/eastern Colorado of over 20" snow so far! Large stretch of I-70 shut down. Still pouring there as well!!

Les I believe the one thing that will help will be the ratio's. I can see 15-1 any probably closer to 20-1.

We will watch that later for sure, Tim. Right now, my concern is evolution and degree of phasing to see how much moisture we can get ahead of the front and the developing Nor 'Easter. We want to see the trend on today's 12Z Euro / EPS and 0Z CMC 0Z RGEM runs. Watching 18Z NAM attm. Looks a bit better then the 12Z run at 60 hours.
