Good morning all! A new work and school week begins along with mainly dry weather this week and weekend. I won't rule out a pop up storm this afternoon in our NE counties but that's it until next week. My post from last night still stands in terms of sky cover and temps I expect over the next 7 days.

Good Morning Les. Total for the weekend 0.32. The upcoming week and chances are low for rainfall but again never throw out the chance totally since we are in late August. Best chances are today then later in the week but most folks will stay dry. Also once the tropics get going which is a slow process this will mess with the timing of fronts heading this way. Many times these fronts are delayed by several days compared to what the models show at first and this can get us back to a rather warm and muggy several days. Can we reach 90 and sure for a day here and there but no heat waves coming this way.

Good morning Tim! I'm going with the upper 80s for max temps this week since we've had some good rains around CVG and at CVG too, as well as everything being green and lush. Can a 90 occur coming up and yes it can, but I think chances are low. If we got a tropical system involved to pump up a ridge ahead of it for a day or two, that would probably be our best chance at getting the 90s to occur in my mind. It's a little too early too tell how, if and when the tropics may impact the pattern and hopefully in another week or so, that will become a little more clearer.

Yep, we got hit. Crazy lightning. I was out working and had to scramble to get home to unload. Some crazy lightning and heavy rain. Had and an inch of rain with that and just under 2 inches for the past two days.
CMH was a touch below avg going into today so you guys are good to go for a while now (as are we down here) DAY area is struggling. Going into today, only 0.72" has fallen for August, which is 1.18" below normal.
Getting hit with another round of heavy rain right now. Everything is going to be greening up again for sure.
Awesome, JP! A nice welcome home present after your vacation!
Yep and I was thinking about cutting every 10 to 14 days again.

May have to throw in some chance POPS now for Friday as guidance is starting to hint at a weak front dropping in from the North and West. Overnight Euro and 12Z GFS are showing this feature.

12Z Euro has a spotty storm chance on Friday, otherwise we wait until next week for a more defined system to move in. Thinking perhaps around Tuesday, 8/30?

Per Scotty Ds Facebook page:

Through 2pm today, 2022 ranks third for the most number of hours in a single year with a steamy 70°+ dewpoint. We need just over 3 full days with a 70°+ dewpoint to get to first place, and #Cincinnati averages about ~48 hours with a 70°+ dewpoint each September. Through 2pm, #Cincinnati has spent 280 hours this year with very steamy 75°+ dewpoint; this is an all-time record for CVG, and the year is not over.
A breakdown of hours in Cincinnati with a dewpoint of 70°+ and 75°+ by year (through 2pm for 2022) is included with this post.

If you haven't heard already , the weekly LaNina 3.4 index anomaly is down to -1.2°C, Coldest weekly SST anomaly in August in Nino 3.4 region since 2010.

I think we can kiss the 75 dewpoints goodbye, and I don't see to many 70s if any the rest of the year

More easterlies. The colder waters are getting to about 150W which is far enough West to keep the Nina strengthening for a while longer.

I dropped to 60 this morning so many of you most likely had the 50s. :) Enjoy it! L80s today, mid 80s Wed, mid to upper 80s thereafter. Chance POPS Friday and again next week is my current thinking. U80s, hazy, warm, and humid for this weekend. Expecting dry conditions.

Still not seeing much change in the guidance from what I've already been posting. Small chance Fri, better chances Mon onwards next week. Boring wx this week, turning more active again next week.

Good Wed morning all! I dropped to 57 so another glorious morning out there! :) Another nice day too right around avg for highs in the mid 80s. Same for Thurs and Fri before the upper 80s come this weekend. Isolated storm possible but again, the best chance continues to come in early next week for everyone.

EDIT: 59 at CVG this morning.

12Z GFS continues to show a small chance Friday with a daily chance for rain next week with a slow moving frontal boundary. We also continue to watch the tropics to see if a Gulf or SE Coast system can get going to impact the pattern.
