Long term looked better on the overnight Ensembles. Still looking very active with all modes of wintry precip showing up late this month and into early Feb.

I went to the climate report for KLOZ and the snowfall data is missing. Might be why the graphic has a zero on it. They used to keep snowfall stats there. No clue. Would be a question for NWS JKL.

We know that is not correct, not sure if the totals are taken from London or Corbin.

If they're talking Winter Season (Dec-Jan-Feb), then Indy only has 0.3". Pretty remarkable.
We'll see if this Sunday clipper throws them a bone or not.

Good Morning. Something we are starting to see with the models and this usually happens more towards February but the STJ is starting to become a bigger factor. Does that mean we get a storm that phases and the answer is maybe but it can be a bully instead of waiting in the wings. The northern jet will probably have less energy since the cold up in Canada will have moderated and this leads to a more neutral temperature pattern.

Sure looks like a bad ice storm for the beaches. Pretty amazing!!!
Towards the end of next week, the 12Z GFS phases the energy too late so it's another Southern Special. Plenty of time to watch it as well as early Feb which looks stormy and seeing more clashing of the cold and warm which means big storm potential is there. Just need to be on the right side of the boundary. It's almost like a cross between Dec and Jan how early Feb looked on the overnight guidance especially.

My math may be off. 6.35 inches on average over that period.

What amazes me is the variability. We've had very little to a seasons worth of snow.

Did anyone else notice the pattern of every 5 years we get a double digit monthly snowfall? Pretty consistent since 2004.

Def has been a trend in snowier Feb's. If you post Marches, I suspect you would see a similar trend. Conversely, you'd see a decrease in December for sure.

Only 150 hours out on the 18Z GFS so Day 6....
Anyway, a nice phasing clipper set up with a southern s/w. It's going to get cranked up probably too late for us but another one of those keep one eye open set up's like for Tuesday. Would like to see one of these pan out either Tues or end of next week before the pattern changes in Feb to a more volatile one. However, it will hold big dog potential especially early on. A HH, HR pattern.

Too bad it is fantasy, but the 18Z GFS has a great start to Feb with two moderate to heavy snow systems. Warmer look has been starting to back off. Wonder if the warmer pattern might be delayed until mid month? That would be fantastic and give us a shot at a nice storm or two.
