Sun is getting ready to come out as the dry slot works in. This will only act to crank up those winds!

12Z Euro now has the T-giving / black Friday storm now too. It is rain to snow for us thanks to the low track being too close but it is good that the GFS is getting some support for a storm during that time frame. EPS Mean has it as well.

Wow, that is one heck of a trough spreading into the western 3 quarters of the lower 48 towards the end of the GFS run?

Wow, that front moved through with the rain. Got wet trying to get some work done. Still can get warmed up. I bet we dropped 15 to 20 degrees in the past 3 hours. Hello November. :)

That arctic high is in the 1055 to 1060 MB range on the GFS. Crazy for early December! That's impressive no matter what the winter month lol

Radar this evening shows scattered showers over IN which turns into some light snow NW of Chicago... is heading to the SE and will impact us with rain and snow showers (late tonight into tomorrow). The bigger push of snow and this one that can give us grassy accum is Thurs late afternoon thru the evening hours North into the overnight South. An interesting Thus PM to Fri AM commute (depending on your location) is the time period to watch IMO for the best snows.

Please report your location, temp, and precip type for this event when you can. Thanks! A pic isn't bad either if you have the means. ;)

18Z GFS has trended towards the Euro solution. The Wed - Friday period looks to be in play.

AI is also active for the whole thanksgiving weekend with lows developing to our SW. Lots of QPF . I’d like to see the the cold shot that’s currently forecast (AI) for after the holiday weekend to speed up and catch up to one of those lows

Current position of low is a bit west of where models had it in previous runs, that’s not a good thing for east sliders and hopefully no more shifts

Wow! Great reports all! Got about a quarter of an inch here! We're on the board for the season! Wooo hooo! We await round 2 later this afternoon and evening. It should be coming down good before sunset in some places. We are down to 33 now here and at CVG. A big ole area of snow is up around Chicago dropping SE. Snowsquall parameter looking interesting for some.

Critical thicknesses are good for all snow. 1300M line is way down in SC Kentucky. Check out this nice jet streak moving thru the TN Valley.

The HRRR is a lot faster moving the snow back into the region from the NW then the Operational NAM is. HRRR is around 5 pm and the NAM after 7. The boys have 1-2" yet to come on grassy areas, etc. Much like this morning although surfaces have cooled somewhat. If you get a heavy enough rate and if it lasts long enough, I could see a light covering on some roads, esp less traveled roadways tonight. Should be an interesting evening. I'll be here! :)
