1014 MB low is right over the area now. Best snows should be pivoting thru the region once we are on the back side. 1300 thickness line is now in our SE counties so most of you (minus that area) should be seeing snow. 32 degree line is over IN a couple row of counties to our NW. Temps should cool a bit further as we wet bulb down. Seeing some frontogenic forcing too at 925 and 850 MB per SPC meso page.

Nice flake size! Too bad we're a bit too warm. Had it been colder 2-3"+ would easily occur with this system.

UPDATE from the boys:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Rain has been the dominant precipitation type across the ILN CWA
so far this morning, but over the past hour or so, accumulating
snow has begun for portions of west-central Ohio and eastern
Indiana. In particular, traffic cameras near the I-70 / US-40
corridor in Wayne County IN and Preble County OH are showing
accumulations on grassy areas (with little to nothing on the
pavement). At the NWS office in Wilmington, a gentle transition
to very light snow began at about 915 AM.
The main concern will be for the next 4-6 hours, as the primary
forcing associated with the surface low and 500mb wave will be
pivoting through the ILN forecast area. The strongest forcing
will extend on a NW-to-SE axis from Wayne County IN / Preble
County OH through roughly Adams County OH, and maybe a couple
counties on either side of that line. However, with
southeastward extent, the dominant precipitation type through
the event will be more and more favorable for rain. As such,
snow accumulations are expected to be more prevalent to the
northwest, with accumulations of around an inch extending
through southwestern Ohio. There remains a low-end chance of
some higher totals near 2 inches if a persistent band sets up,
but there is also a chance that the forcing does not overcome
the thermodynamics in many locations, leading to only light
accumulations with a decent amount of rain mixing in for a
solid portion of the area. No significant changes were made to
the going forecast.

Radar looks great for CVG Metro on north. Props to the Canadian and RGEM for sticking to this solution. GFS only caught on to it yesterday. Euro and NAM were too light and never had a clue.

Want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The next 10-12 days look busy with friends and family around here plus heading to Wisconsin to see my son and his family the day after Christmas. Les you need to make sure the cold we are starting to see for January is heading this way and hopefully when I get back not only talking about the cold but hopefully more in the way of snow. I will be on here but not sure how much and really it looks like a non exciting time period unless you like mild and somewhat wet starting Monday.

Merry Christmas to you and your family also Tim! Happy Winter Solstice tomorrow too. I'll be around covering it from time to time you can be sure of that. Love the signals that I am seeing for early to mid January. The reality of it we shall soon know.

Hey Tim, wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas too! It'll be a busy time for sure with family & friends the next week plus and with a birthday involved too! Lol Hopefully I'll be able to break out the snow blower in the new year (if it works as it's been since Feb of 2021 when I've used it last). Anyway, I just hope we can see snow without the frigid temps as my bones just can't that type of cold anymore! Lol Lol

What little bit we had here in Mason is melting as the snow has quieted down big time.
