Going by radar and now casting, Close to Inch amounts for a good portion of the tri-cities region, possibly isolated 1.5” if you get more than one heavier burst

Agreed. I went 0.5-1.00" (with some areas seeing more) in my forecast update earlier this afternoon. Should look pretty wintry out there for a bit especially with the winds gusting up along and right behind the front as well. Definitely going to be road impacts.

I've been going with 1/2" to localized 1" as well.

Latest update from the boys:

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
Light snow is just now pushing into northwest portions of our
area. This light snow will overspread the remainder of our area
this evening and into the overnight hours as a cold front moves
through the region. QPF amounts will be on the lighter side,
but with high SLRs, some minor accumulations of mainly less
than an inch can be expected overnight. With colder air moving
in behind the front, temperatures will drop off through the
night, with readings by daybreak ranging from the single digits
in the west to the lower teens in the east. Winds will remain
brisk through the night too, with sub zero wind chills
developing. Meanwhile, road temperatures are below freezing, so
some slick spots will develop overnight with the light snow.
Will continue to cover this with an SPS.

Those temps were at midnight. We've been below freezing since about 1am at CVG.
I hear ya Bro! :)

I've heard our local maintenance guy with his plow going by twice in the past half hour. :)

Currently 3 degrees here in G'ville with a W wind at 20 mph and gust to 25 mph.

Progged to top out at around 8 degrees today via ILN.

ICE BOX Birthday this year! ;)

Late week chance for snow has the EU/EPS still showing about .20” QPF for the region. Just need to watch the qpf trends the next few days.

Good morning all! 9 degrees at CVG this morning. Same with my hood. Picked up another good covering today. We'll see how much CVG picked up once the 5pm climate report comes out. Thru 1/13/24. we had 1" on the season officially which is the 8th least snowiest season to date. We've got some work to do!

Also, let's all wish a very happy birthday to Eric aka MVWxObserver. Eric has been a member of our various weather forums since Day 1. This was even before the formation of AV. Eric... you're a good friend and a good person! Keep doing what you do, Bro! I hope you have a very happy birthday and many more to come! :birthdaymulticolor: :birthday: :balloons: :birthday: :cake: :candle:

Operational GFS gave us around 0.30" and the GEFS had 0.20"

Glad you made it back from your hunting trip safely, Bud. That heavy rain and severe wx warnings that were issued when you were in AR, I am sure was tough to deal with!

Make that 8 degrees now at CVG. Highs 10 to 15 for most of the area today. Brutal since we have very little snow to look at.

The above chart... just brutal! We still have time to play catch up though. In our area all it takes is 1 big storm as you all know.

Thank you very much, Les, Bgoney, Bo, Pete, and Leslie! :)

#61 for myself in the Tim, Bgoney, and Gina boat! :thumbupleft: But forever kids at heart! :thumbupright:

A very nice fresh coating of around a half inch for my bday! 8-)

Here at the BRC (Brethren Ret Community) in south Greenville they have their own cable system and own channel and its cool to see your name for a day on the TV screen bday greetings! 8-)

Currently 0 here in G'ville and a revised top out at around 4 degrees for today. ;)

Hopefully Les's Lions can offer up us a nice win over the Rams and for me an additional bday gift! 8-)

Despite some sunshine, I am still holding at 9 degrees, CVG as of last check still had 8. We won't rise very much today at all as you would imagine as the arctic air has taken over. 850 MB temps range from -17 over our SE counties to -20 over Central Indiana. Brrrr!

CVG still gets 0.30" of QPF from the 12Z GFS Thurs and Fri, however the trend I am noticing is for 2 waves again, weaker, and more south. I am not going to start up a thread on it at this point because this thing could easily turn into something similar for Mon and Tues of this upcoming week. We just can't seem to buy any amplification for these waves to phase and get cranked up for a larger snowfall.

EDIT: If you look at the 500 MB vorticity maps you will notice two issues. The first is the PNA ridge out West is flat. The second issue is a lobe of the PV is located just over the border from the UP of Michigan in S Ontario so that acts to suppress things.
