I’m hoping (ok wishful thinking) that a nice deform band sets up over your house and mine tonight. It would make me happy to tell you Les, stay home Monday as the roads in Mason are impassable( ok a guy can dream can’t he)

What I like is the constant stream of moisture from Cuba over the Atlantic Ocean and then pushed into the eastern 1/3 of the country.

tpweather wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 12:00 pm Good Morning Les,no matter what happens over the next 24 hours the pattern looks good the next 2 weeks. Again models will still have problems with pieces of energy and sometimes they will catch them and others boom a sudden system 2 days away. The current system or systems depending how you look at it has been on the models for sometime and even at this time not easy for models or forecasters to get a decent handle on snow and ice totals. No doubt busts both ways over the next 24 hours but hey winter weather in the Ohio Valley.
Good morning Tim and I agree. A favorable pattern looks to continue for the rest of January at the very least so there will be more chances down the road.

Sometimes, those dreams can become a reality. You never know. ;) The stronger the surface low gets the better and the longer the energy transfer takes the better. It's all we've got.

18 here this morning - may just have to do a quick jog down to Mom’s house as looks like she will get a lot of winter mess down that way. Certainly won’t be here! LOL

For those along and West of I-75 corridor, the only thing of interest is the trailing wave for tomorrow morning swinging thru for snow shower activity.

Anyone seeing anything reach the ground yet in the far SE? Mason, Robertson and Lewis in KY... Adams and Brown in OH? Please report your temp and p-type this afternoon and this evening for those of you seeing something that is. Thanks!

Good! Not that you're getting sleet but you've answered my question lol Until precip rates pick up, you'll see mixed precip. Once the heavier returns come, you'll change over to snow very quickly due to dynamic cooling processes.

PWATS are good... we're not like 100% dry. 0.4" North and Western sections... 0.5" just about to Cincinnati and 0.6" in the SE. If you can get PWATS to 0.5" that is pretty good for a winter storm. Nice moisture transport from the Gulf and esp the Atlantic. We'll see how much gets thrown back west of the Apps as the event continues to unfold.

Radar has a narrow band of flurries even across NKY headed my way. No clue if it is hitting the ground yet. Precip is SE of us moving to the NW until it pivots then the precip will end from NW to SE. So the more the precip pivots NW of your location, the longer it is that you'll stay in the snow.

Euro is supposedly having computer issues with the 0Z run.

We are so close to the snow this time, hopefully this over achieves.

That outer band from our area to the SW looks to be hitting the ground in eastern Jefferson County (Louisville).
