Man, the guys got edged 13-12 tonight!! :o :( For a team that is 14 games back the matey crew sure is on FIRE! :extinguish:

They must have made some heckuva trades at the early Aug deadline is all I can figure! ;)

Brandon Williamson takes on Quinn Priester in the rubber match at 1:40 Sun to wrap up the last home stand this regular season.

The Wild Card chase window is closing in fast as Cincy only has 6 games remaining the rest of the regular season.

The Redlegs had a 9-run lead last night by the 3rd inning!

Now, they’re eliminated from the division-title race and sit 2 1/2 games out of a postseason spot with six games to go. It’s not an impossible mountain to climb, but it’ll involve some luck to get there. No team has made a Wild Card from this situation since a second Wild Card was added in 2012.

First there was the St Louis dirty birds and now the Pburgh dirty Bucs. **SMH**

No offense to any of our Redleg fans on here, but I predict they won't make it to the play offs. My reason is awful pitching. Last nights game was an obvious example. That is the 1st time in Pirate's history that they have come back from being 9 runs down. Wow... You have to tip your cap to a team that doesn't give up or quit. The Reds should be taking notes IMO. My Tigers have had awful pitching too and an even worse bull pen. That is why you don't see My Tigers in any sort of division race. Their season the last several years has been over before it even started. The Reds have been fun to pay attention too this year at least. That is more then I can say for Detroit. But the Reds will never make the play offs (Tigers too) unless the pitching problems are fixed. It's that simple.

Yes, and all 4 last night on the mound, starter Connor Phillips, relievers Alex Young and Fernando Cruz, and closer Alexis Diaz all got roughed up. Great American Ballpark is known for being a hitters stadium but that is NO reason why owners Bob and Phil Castellini can't put out more money for ace pitching veterans e.g.

Marge Schott along with Lou Piniella got it done in 1990 at Riverfront and that's because Schott was more of a Steinbrenner type for taking a team ALL THE WAY!!

And like you said, Bro, the same for Detroit, too!

Exactly Eric! The Tigers have a new GM now so we'll see what happens in the future but I am sure getting tired of Detroit's front office every year saying "it is a rebuilding year" I call BS on that. I know as a Reds fan, you are equally as frustrated and rightfully so.

https://www.mlb.com/news/reds-eliminate ... contention

I am so aggravated and disgusted with the Redlegs and their chronic subliminal subpar starting pitching and bullpen!! :x :banghead:

The psychology of it all with how they pounded the Dirty Redbirds last night 19-2 yet Sat night's starter Connor Phillips fell apart fast as he was pulled in the 1st or 2nd inning and from there an assembly line of relievers as the Dirty Birds humiliated Cincy 15-6!!

So LAST place St Louis crushed Cincy's chance at a Wild Card! All I can figure is that team must have made some heckuva trades in the early Aug deadline!

At this point its hard to believe that the Redlegs had won a utopia-like 12 games in a row in the 1st half of the season! ;)

So the roller coaster pitching rotation / bullpen and a lot of IL injury rehabs and Covid took quite a HIT on the Redlegs this season.

Hunter Greene takes on Miles Mikolas in the 2023 wrap up at 3:15 Sun.

Sorry for the soapbox but its like "therapy" for me after such a great 1st half of the season which just didn't get continuously executed into the 2nd half because of various reasons.
