Re: August 2021 Weather Discussion
CVG is only at 0.02" and the Boone Co mesonet didn't get anything out of it. I got really lucky on that one. Picked up a quick quarter of an inch. Still seeing light rain even now... Another nice morning in progress here. Hope to see the rest of you have similar success today and this week.

Not many haters, maybe they are tired of the humidity and want the snow.cloudy72 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 6:56 pmThey will just blame it on climate change LOLyoung pup wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 6:32 pmI should post this on FB. Summer is really trying to come to a close in parts of northern Alaska. On and off snow is forecast for higher elevations of the Brooks Range through Tuesday. Around 5 inches of snow is expected at Atigun Pass along the Dalton Highway. Snow is not uncommon in mid-August in the Brooks Range and it looks like this year is no exception.

Still seeing some light sprinkle activity here. Hasn't really completely stopped since it began an hour and a half ago.

Ditto for your area or anyone up that way (Eric too). The biggest concentration looks to keep getting funneled to the SE as Fred rides up the Apps later on this week. You guys need help with the next cold front.

Re: August 2021 Weather Discussion
Well, totally aggravating that it appears Fred won't be making a beeline northward to the OV and Great Lakes! Instead to the Southeast which already this season has had an overabundance of liquid gold and needs more like a "hole in the head."
Like many others here at AV my property already has browning "burn up" going on in the yard.
Grace who is now a TD, again, her forecast is more westward toward TX or Mexico eventually and so not very promising this far out, yet, for the OV either.

Re: August 2021 Weather Discussion
Two day totals across my county are 1.5-2" Being dry for so long, every bit of it soaked in. Hopefully you guys still needing some rain can get it. Currently though, radar trends show a boundary if you will from LOU to just NW of Cincy to S of Dayton over to ILN and up I-71 towards CMH. Along and north and west of that line, nothing. along and to the SE of that line, scattered areas of heavy downpours have been occurring and continue to develop over those same areas. Wish I could send this northward to you Mike and Eric. I should be good now. Your turn!

Thanks, Les! Things always seem to average out...there are times I have been hit and you missed and vice versa. We will eventually get our turn....I am just impatient!tron777 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 11:51 am Two day totals across my county are 1.5-2" Being dry for so long, every bit of it soaked in. Many yards in my hood that haven't been regularly watered are pretty much toast. My yard is still good because as I have mentioned it is like 50% real grass and 50% crabgrass LOL, and right now the crabgrass is green so.... LOL Plus I water the plants regularly and try to spray the yard when I can.MVWxObserver wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 11:42 am Well, totally aggravating that it appears Fred won't be making a beeline northward to the OV and Great Lakes! 1.74" now at CVG for today... they're kicking my butt! 0.91" is my total for today. I am dry currently, still raining over there.
EDIT: The daily rainfall record for today is safe. Anyone remember it? 5.02" set back in 2018

My folks and I have kept our shrubbery and flower beds watered and "deadheaded". We've neglected our yard, though, re watering.cloudy72 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 12:06 pmMany yards in my hood that haven't been regularly watered are pretty much toast.
