Good Morning and a few hot and steamy days ahead and then a nice cold front for the end of the week. A few things to talk about as we enter mid-July. First is the forecasts of wall to wall heat in the USA has not taken place. One reason is the late arrival of the southwest monsoon season and has kept the heat out west. The Bermuda Ridge has formed this year and has made inroads at times but has been pushed back several times with the cold fronts coming out or central Canada this late spring and early summer. The La Nina that was predicted by some models to be going gangbusters by summer is not happening. Yes the waters are getting cooler but a much slower rate and one that makes more sense imo. Sea Ice in many areas of the northern regions is not melting quite as fast this season as predicted. Europe has been cooler than normal though models had shown a warm summer. India and southeast Asia has been very wet this season but folks in the middle east continue to be hot and dry which is normal but they usually get some of the monsoon moisture to arrive in the area in July and that is not happening. So that is my update of the planet and of course we need to try and forecast the remainder of summer and I have some thoughts on that but will post that late today or on Monday

Like Les mentioned yesterday the leftovers from this morning fired up quite nicely. Though the thunderstorm watch is just north of some of us these storms like to find the heat which is to the south and southwest. I do expect everyone in the local area to get wet but to what extent not sure though its early enough that it should be able to hold together for several more hours

Rain in Independence finally. Not a ton of rain but one where you don't need to water the flowers this evening. Short term models did a bad job with this complex and not sure why. Been a rather bad summer for the models in many aspects so need to take that with a grain of salt over the next few months though they can get on a winning streak at times. Wow some strange noise outside and I believe they call that thunders but not 100p/c sure. Would like to see one more downpour before this complex is out of here.

Great have not seen this kind of rain since probably May. Loving it and a nice steady moderate to sometimes heavy rain with a low roar of thunder. Nothing severe but this is my kind of thundershower in the summer

Good morning all and Happy Birthday Tim! It was a busy weekend so I haven't had time to post much. Hope you had a great day my friend. Mother Nature may reward us again with more storms as an MCS over Indiana continues to drop to the SE in our direction.

Good Morning and thanks so much for the birthday wishes. Got .50 yesterday so that was a nice birthday gift. Another complex northwest of us this morning though it probably will weaken before getting here but the leftover energy could re-fire later today. Will check in later as I have a 7am tee time to beat the heat

CVG picked up 0.84" from yesterday's action and the Boone Co Mesonet got 0.66" Around 3/4" for my hood. Wonderful news! As mentioned, we are still keeping an eye on the MCS over Central IN this morning to see how much of that holds together and if an outflow boundary can re-fire up anything for this afternoon? That is kind of what happened yesterday. We are prone to more of these complexes of t-storms tomorrow and also into Wed with the passage of a cold front. Thurs onwards looks wonderful with a cooler then normal weather pattern taking shape for a few days with lower humidity as well. Next week appears to be active as well so this would be nice if we can slowly get ourselves out of the short term drought.

Per radar, the incoming MCS is falling apart, but it should lay down an outflow boundary for afternoon development. Sunshine should begin to break out later on this morning to charge up the atmosphere. We shall see with regards to coverage. As usual, some will get hit, some won't.
