I hope he cashes in, Tim! it's been bad up north for sure. We've had way more snow then my cousin in Southern Lower MI. They are expecting a 2-4" or 5" type of deal this weekend too.

Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
Not a good run... rain to snow Wed night and Thurs. We won't even mention what it has for next weekend.

Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
No problems with the runs today and all showing something and those models will hopefully get together after the 1st system is over by Sunday. My biggest problem really next week is can we get more blocking with the NAO. Does the storm this weekend end up in eastern Canada and an we get high pressure in Greenland to help slow down the pattern. The first system is a definite no I believe and still 50/50 on the second system. The cold is decent next week but the really cold air stays to the north but that could be what comes down here the following week. Lots of work this weekend

Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
With regards to tomorrow's system, I have no changes. Late tonight into early tomorrow morning, we should all begin as a brief period of sleet and frz rain before going over to all rain. 40s to near 50 for a high. Sat looks like a very wet day. Best chance for wintry impacts along and N of I-70 with this one. I could see amounts of 0.25 to 0.50" of rain. Cooler but dry Sunday mainly in the 30s.

Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
If worse comes to worse... there is a third wave for next weekend that may get its own thread too in due time. Very active pattern loaded with potential for the next several weeks. I think second half of Feb like in the last 10 days of the month thru 1st half of March are cold. Then we are on to spring. 12Z Ensemble guidance at 500 MB looks great in the extended range as MJO gets into Phase 8 by Feb. 15-17th time period.
Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
WWA here for 1-3" of snow/sleet Saterday night. I was not able to clear everything from the sleet mess but i would say i got a little over half it done. the sun came out and helped soften things up a little. the next week looks loaded for bear. winters last measure of devotion !

Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
Good morning all! With the later arrival of the rain, we'll dodge any frz rain impacts. If you need to run any errands go ahead as the rain will be coming in this afternoon.; Perhaps even a t-storm and some graupel possible. Temps will range from the 30s in our N counties to near 60 in our far S counties in KY. Should be interesting to see the temp contrast setting up later today.
Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
That temp difference is telling us we are entering mid-Feb as temp extremes can be quite high in a short distance.tron777 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:41 am Good morning all! It can make for heavier precip amounts during overrunning setup's too if the baroclinic boundary is sharp / strong enough.tpweather wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:48 amThat temp difference is telling us we are entering mid-Feb as temp extremes can be quite high in a short distance.tron777 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:41 am Good morning all! Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
Speaking of QPF for today's rain, I keep seeing amounts decreasing on the modeling. I had 1/4 to 1/2" before. Probably need to knock that back to 1/4" or less.
Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
In regards to the system on the 13th, the trend this winter has been for systems to trend south on the models with in the last 3-4 days leading up to the day of each individual storm. Personally, I would not be surprised to see this happen with the system on the 13th and the follow up system next weekend. The cold has been winning out on the models all season long. Just like the Tuesday system the last day or two, south with each run. It may not be done yet with the south trend.

Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
There is sure a nice signal for your area either leading up to / or around President's Day.
Re: February 2025 Weather Discussion
The system next weekend looks very interesting and with so much action before not spending tons of time on this one but looks rather strong and I believe will be somewhat colder than models show today but still have plenty of time to try and pinpoint that storm down. Seems we usually get a nice storm around Valentines Day or Presidents Day
