Wonder if they will go with an Advisory tonight.
IMO they should.
Depends on what the arrow lands on after they spin the wheel
Very true!

I’d like to know what criteria they go by? Up to an inch is what we had this morning. Sooo why tomorrow and not this morning? So weird!

I agree guys. An advisory was needed if you're going to go on an impact basis which is part of the criteria nowadays that most NWS offices have adopted. In addition to the normal stuff we already know, (an advisory is typically a 1-3" snowfall and 4"+ is reserved for the warning), they are also factoring in impacts like the AM or PM commute. Based on impacts alone, an advisory should have been issued for this morning. No doubt about it. Now they are finally reacting correctly for tonight.
Afternoon AFD:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THURSDAY MORNING/...
Mid level low pressure to drop southeast from the Upper MS
Valley across the Ohio Valley overnight into Thursday. As the
closed low pivots into the Ohio Valley later this evening
light snow to develop into Eastern Indiana and Western Ohio -
spreading east across the entire area by midnight. With cold
temperatures in place - snow to liquid ratios of 18:1 and 20:1
will exist. Given these high snow ratios, and cold temperatures,
expect snowfall between 0.5 and 1.5 inches by morning. Cold
pavement temperatures will allow the snow to stick with the
potential for slick spots and travel impacts. A winter weather
advisory has been issued from 8 PM this evening to 11 AM
Thursday morning.
Cold overnight lows to range from near 10 to 15 degrees.

SPC mesopage late this afternoon is showing some weak pressure falls from Iowa, SE into ILL and down into Central IN. This is the path the upper low should take, then it swings eastward from there thru Ohio in the morning. The upper low is over MN / Iowa region at this time. We have moisture at 700 MB over ILL and the Western half of IN so once the upper low drops a little more south and creates some lift out ahead of it, snow showers should rapidly develop in the next few hours to our West. Radar is showing a band of snow developing to the NW of St. Louis. This maybe aloft right now but something is starting to get going. That area of snow should expand in coverage and intensity as the evening progresses.

1.2” of snow from .03” of precipitation is a 40:1 ratio! That’s crazy!

I got around an inch here... no surprises IMBY unfortunately. CVG picked up a total of 1.4" for 2/19. We'll see what they picked up since midnight once they release the information.

CVG picked up 0.04" of QPF so I imagine with temps in the 15 to 17 degree range, that SLR's were probably 30:1 or so again. I expect CVG to record 1 to 1.5" range.

Roads were terrible in my hood but KY 18 was good and the interstates were good until I got N of Reagan Hwy. It was snowing again and the lanes were becoming snow covered again for a few miles. Roads around the office here in Mason are also terrible.
