...STRONG WINDS THIS AFTERNOON...
A strong cold front will sweep east through the area early this
afternoon. West winds will gust up to 50 mph for a couple of
hours behind this front.
Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could
be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra
caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile
vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Don't be surprised if you see a few mood flakes later on and overnight. Maybe tomorrow also if you are northwest due to the flow off of Lake Michigan. Then we watch that Tues night / Wed morning wave for light precip for portions of the area.

I know Tim and Bgoney will appreciate this:
Happy Monday! Here's the latest on our snow stats:
We are now up to 91.9" of snow this winter in Fairbanks. That is the highest amount of snowfall we have seen since the winter of 1992-1993, which ended up with 139.1" for the entire winter. For reference, our 'normal' annual snowfall is only 64.6".

Love those stats Les. Having a La Nina year along with the AO staying mainly positive has led to a nice snow season for them. Love to see some of the totals in western and central Canada this season

Good morning and that southern wave still looks to impact us as it continues to trend stronger and further to the NW. Light rain / snow falls from the Tri-state to points south and east. NW of the Metro nothing falls. Outside of extreme SE IN counties, nothing falls. CVG will see some light precip out of this. No accumulations or problems are expected due to warm ground temps and surface temps well above freezing. That's about it in the short term other then the Last Stand system. Still expecting 50s and a nice Thurs with 60 on Friday ahead of that system.

Its been a exceptionally wet year for many parts of Alaska . Could mean a flood risk when the ice starts melting in the coming weeks

A second year Nina now trying to take a secondary dip in late winter / early spring. Might be uncharted or at least rare territory here should the easterlies continue to cool the SST's even further. Long range seasonal outlooks may need a significant adjustment for Spring and / or summer forecasts. Same with the tropics also. It might be more active then something are currently thinking.

39 / 28 at CVG. 40 / 28 here. Rain is over AR and TN and you can see the NW low track is correct on this one with the dry slot over SW AR. Lert's see how far NW the precip shield gets. Do not be surprised to see flakes 4-8am range in the morning. Some light rain too. Depends on precip rate. Need it to be heavy for dynamic cooling for flakes. Let's see what happens! This is a nice potent little wave! Some light snow does exist on the NW side of the rain shield over SW and S MO. Rain / Snow line per critical thicknesses at this time runs roughly along the I-70 Corridor. Surface temps all areas well above freezing and will remain so tonight.
