Was about to say the same thing as House of Cards. A sleet fest in West Chester for a few minutes. However, snowing nicely here too. Nice fluffy flakes. Looks wonderful but cold outside!

Seems somewhat peculiar that so far haven't seen any totals for Darke Co. via ILN, WHIO7 or WDTN2 yet.

House of Cards wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 7:36 am roughly 8-1/2 to 8-3/4" here so far with maybe 1/4" sleet. Had 3" exactly with round 1, another 3-1/2-3-3/4" with round 2 (wind made it a little harder to measure due to some drifting), and just got a bit under 2" overnight, that was from right after the football game on til 7:15am. Fun storm!
The back end should produce nicely esp for the Tri-state area on south. Expecting 2-4" more today for our area along with windy conditions, blowing and drifting snow. High ratio fluffy snow too.
Hopefully it will put you up to the 12 inch mark for this storm!

FYI To ALL:

CVG Messed Up the snowfall report for yesterday

NWS is fixing it now. The actual snowfall from yesterday at that location was 6.4". The total at the site as of 7 am was 7.6"

They know this will cause a lot of issues with the reporting and media, but it has to be corrected.

Thanks Aaron! I will correct our snowfall contest thread.

EDIT: I'll wait until the 5pm climate report today. Might as well wait since we are getting dumped on good again!

definitely same here, has been snowing like that for at least an hour now. Has been Blowy all morning too. I was out relaying my tarp on the lawn for the dogs at 7:30, it kept moving until I could get my weights back on it. Wasn't impossible, but was definitely challenging. Plow just went thru, did a nice job getting down to pavement, but five minutes later road is filling in white again.

No plow here yet today. One set of tire tracks is almost filled in on my street. Most people aren't moving this morning. Est 5-6" out in the street easy.

Our low is starting the energy transfer now, but the damage is already being done. The transfer held off long enough that we should have a good chance to make double digits. I am confident in that. Might fall short of a foot at CVG since they had a mistake yesterday that Aaron mentioned that we didn't know about at that time.

I seriously doubt we get much more tomorrow, the backend of these storms always promises and never really delivers. I'll take what we got and be happy with more if it happens. :) Sleet will compact the snow so accurate total measurements will be harder to find.
Old man is getting grumpy in his old age. Just a hair under 8 inches, same spot, and I'd say moderate snow at the moment.

So what model did we determine did the best with this system? GFS seemed to show higher amounts and north, Euro eventually came more north but seemed to have the track right. Think it was showing northern Kentucky at 11 inches or so on Fridays run?

We know a lot of the hires guidance was overinflated like NAM and HRRR so those models on amounts and QPF were not very good. GFS also too high. I think the foreign models did better with amounts and QPF. For track, I would have to say the same thing.

0.89" QPF total at CVG as of 10am. I would imagine now that we should be in that 9" range even with some sleet earlier and their first measuring mistake.

Just finished shoveling and wow should have done some yesterday. Pain getting old. Took several measurements and closer to the house had around 7 inches but middle of driveway 10 inches so probably middle of that and 8 1/2 seems like the correct amount. Going to be close for double digits.

Traffic cams should most roads and even the interstates still to be snow covered and very slick! Deform zone into early afternoon will continue to do its thing then slowly taper off across the area after that.
