A nice snowfall to say the least and like always some got more and some less than predicted but that happens with every snow storm. I believe the folks on here handled the forecast well and gave folks enough info to be ready as we knew the flash freeze and winds were major parts of the storm and then we ended up hitting the snow totals rather nicely. Never a perfect forecast but never wavering like the models we did well.
Montgomery, Clark, Champaign, Preble, Logan, and Darke Counties are under a Level 2 snow emergency.
Mercer and Auglaize Counties are under a Level 1 snow emergency.
So between 6 and 6:30 this morning I heard a loud bang. Walked into the attached garage and through the window could see where a gust had blown my trash cart down the road a bit between my neighborhood and my property. Our driveway is located off the road and I'm thankful that I have great hearing as my bedroom is at the back of the house. Thankful that no vehicle had been struck by the cart and that no motorist had struck it as it was on its side near the curb on the road. Retrieved it between 6:30 and 7 and parked it inside the garage in its spot. One of the wheels snapped off from the impact so will call Mon and order a new cart.
Sure does make one humble, grateful and thankful for a warm house as my heart goes out to those who are homeless esp during an event like this.
At -9 with a WC of -38 and a gust of 38 mph here in G'ville.

Strong mid level jet of 120+ KTs to pivot around deep 5H trough
which takes on a negative tilt. Deep surface low pressure over
Lake Erie to continue lifting northeast across the Great Lakes.
Associated Arctic cold front has swept east thru ILN/s area
overnight.
Strong CAA has caused a rapid drop in temperatures from west to
east overnight (40s to the single digits below zero in a matter
of hours) and rain transitioned to snow very quickly. Generally
1 to 4 inches has fallen across the area overnight with the
highest totals over Tri-State region.
The widespread steady snow is pivoting northeast with the mid
level trof and will decrease by 12Z. This will leave scattered
light snow showers and areas of blowing snow. Any additional
snow will be an inch or less with the highest accumulations over
the northeast.
Dangerous travel conditions to continue due to the blow snow
and continued accumulating snow -- resulting in slippery
conditions and reduced visibilities. Therefore, have continued
current winter storm warnings across most of the area with a
winter weather advisory over the southeast.
With the deepening low the pressure gradient has increased
across the region. Winds have become strong with gusts of 45
to 50 mph to continue into the day.
Little to no diurnal rise to temperatures today with readings in
the single digits below and above zero. The strong winds
combined with the frigid temperatures will result in wind
chills between -25 and -35F today. Therefore, the wind chill
warning has been continued for the entire area.

There's nothing light a warm piece of banana nut bread with some melted butter on it to go with your coffee on this lovely winter morning!
Sounds delicious! I'll be making our hot chocolate mix and we're doing some cookies today too.

So garage door was frozen and big drifts on both front and back porch.
Hi Mike, Thankful that my garage door wasn't frozen as my trash cart had blown down the road a bit. God bless those dedicated trash crews including Rumpke e.g. as they started out at 3 o'clock this morning to get a head start.
One of the coldest Decembers days you'll ever see around here should we not climb above zero. I am seriously doubting that we will. From the boys:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Have adjusted temperatures down considerably based on current
observations showing readings as low as minus 10. Model blend
has a decent grasp on these extremely cold conditions. Looks
like temperatures will stay below zero through this afternoon in
many locations.
