You changeover 8 to 10am per the NAM to frz rain. Change to sleet after 7-8pm. Snow after midnight.

Another aspect to this storm is winds will pick up Thursday and this is going to cause problems as well. I love this run because how times do we see the nam get in this range and the 850's become more of a problem. This time less of a problem and still not sure it is totally correct. For the folks who get stuck with the frz/rain this is going to be a problem as you could see .50 or maybe greater with increasing winds and temps that will drop.

The NAM has been really far north this entire time. For the NAM to be this far south is very encouraging.

I have seen enough of the models to make a local forecast. Really liked Bgoney's map from last night and it was well thought out as usual. First of all locally expecting maybe .10-.15 inches of frz/rain in the morning. Going to go with about 1 inch of sleet and before all is said and done at CVG 6.3 inches of snow. Higher amounts northwest of the local area and would not be surprised to see some 12 inch totals not to far from the Butler country line. For folks like Matt I worry about the frz/rain aspect that could get to nearly .50 which is horrible. Hoping the sleet helps later in the day.

I was thinking the same thing. This is the furthest south it has come. And it has blown the totals to the north. They were really inflated. I said it last night and I will stick to it. I'm sticking with the GFS. Has been consistent for days. I think we will get 7 to 10 inches of sleet and snow.

I think we will changeover here in Cincy around 4am to frz rain so the earlier the better for sure.

Okay that is it for me tonight. Probably when I get up around 5 or 6am on Thursday I will have a better sense if the forecast is going to bust with more sleet or does the colder air move in a little more pronounced especially upstairs to give us a good dose of snow.

Kentucky looks to have a really rough time with power outages and downed trees. Wherever the freezing rain sets up it has the potential to be pretty bad.

And for areas like Bowling Green and Mayfield i.e. ICE set up like lemon juice / salt in the wound after the Dec tornadoes.
