I agree Jacob. It's not worth the risk.AddisonJM wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:28 pmThanks, Les. Looks like I probably shouldn't risk it. Think I'll stop in Knoxvilletron777 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:19 pmIt's moving in fast. 32 IMBY now.AddisonJM wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:15 pm I've been driving north all day, so I haven't been able to post or check in much. I'm on 75 in Chattanooga, and I'm trying to figure out if I can get through the mountains and across the Kentucky line before the change over happens. Any updated thoughts on when the freezing line might cross down here?

I love this, Les! I was about to graduate HS in May 1994, and my mom was pregnant with my brother (yes, we are 17 years apart!). In 1996 she was pregnant with my sister. In 1998 I was pregnant with my oldest son, who was born in early March…we both remember those winters that we were pregnant being wild!tron777 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 8:53 pm
Thank you Pete! I have numerous ones for ya. Lived here since Oct of 1980 was 4 years old. I remember the following wintry events:
Dec 1983 - Coldest Christmas Ever. This one will come close!
January 1985 cold wave - was in the 3rd grade and hardly went to school that month
Late March and Early April 1987 cut off low snows back to back
October 1989 - Earliest accum snow on record when 5-6" fell
December 1989 record cold and snow event -20s and 7" at CVG
Oct Pre Halloween storm 1993 - 6" fell here. I was in Bowling Green, KY in Marching Band and performed at the state level with pingers, frz rain and snow. Most were bitching I absolutely loved it! The pingers made our snare drums sound better. Was all snow up here.
January 1994 record snow and ice / cold wave -25!! Below zero highs! State of KY closed for a week! I was a senior in high school and loved every minute of it.
January 1996 - The big bust we just spoke of
Feb 1998 the big cut off low snow of 18" WOW!
March of 2008 blizz
January 2009 multiday snow and ice event
Dec of 2010 snowiest on record for CVG
Feb of 2010 - Super Clipper pattern - snowiest on record at CVG
Winter of 13-14 - 2nd snowiest on record at CVG
Feb of 2015 had a decent one.
Now this... Dec of 2022! I am probably missing something in there but you get the point. I love SNOW!!!!
Did the Arkansas low get absorbed by the Indiana low?tron777 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:17 pm Our low is now at 1000 MB over Detroit. 1004 MB Low over Eastern Virginia. We talked about the slower phasing of this system to get that further SE track that we needed. Oh 33 / 30 and snowing. It's almost Christmas! This is the best Christmas ever IMO for a snow weenie like me. It don't get any better for our area!
Glad you found us again, Gail! Oh speaking of May I forgot... May 1989 we had accumulating snow around my Birthday 5/5 I'll never forget that! 28 degrees snowing like crazy... oh man!!!Kgail76 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:30 pmI love this, Les! I also remember a Christmas storm in 2004 that was wicked - I was living in Maineville and we lost power for a few days and had way more snow than was forecast (although that was pre-forum days for me at least!)…I remember that one because my youngest son was only a month old. I was camped out by the fireplace with my 3 young boys as my husband (at the time) was a firefighter and was on duty for days on end.
I found this awesome forum back in the Rich A days and have been so grateful for you all for years now. I don’t post much because I’m not a scientist and I don’t “get” all of it…but I’ve learned so much in the last 15 years or so.
Thank you all for EVERYTHING you do! I love lurking here and try to inform all of my friends as well.
The AR low never really had a chance to develop although it tried.snowbo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:34 pmDid the Arkansas low get absorbed by the Indiana low?tron777 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:17 pm Our low is now at 1000 MB over Detroit. 1004 MB Low over Eastern Virginia. Never got going but that area earlier today helped in slowing down the trough.
