Nothing here thankfully. The split was real. It actually was the driest week here of all spring with a total of .25” , so a much needed drying out. Farmers have been hitting it hard since Wednesday getting those fields planted

Good morning and prayers for Somerset and London areas of KY with a monster tornado that struck down there. Could be EF3 or EF4. For us locally... nothing here or at CVG other then some noise. We'll try it again Sun night and Mon with a 50 / 50 chance. Likely for Tues and Wed. Then we're back in the 60s for highs with cool wx to end the week. Memorial Day weekend right now is up in the air at this distance.

I've seen in the extended outlook low 70s for like up this way so that would be nice and also hopefully dry for a change **knocking on wood** for Memorial Day weekend which would be great for family activities and as my sister and niece from NC will be here. :)

I never thought I'd say this, but, "I'm tired of the rain" lol. ;) Doesn't seem to be a happy medium so to say. ;)

I was thinking dry also but the latest GFS run has a couple of fronts working into the area. The current Euro solution keeps us dry via NW flow.

Watered my plants which should now make it until we get rain from Mother Nature next week. A pretty day out there if you don't mind the wind.

Low 70s today. Mid 70s tomorrow with a lot less wind. Should be a nice C of C type day!

prayers to the people out there dealing with such strong storms like that. i was just watching a few videos on it. it looks like some of the storms were at least F3/4 going by the damage i saw. that is a tough thing to deal with especially coming through at night, i cant imagine.

Ingredients were there for a large region yesterday, you just never know where the focus of the worst severe will be. Without the early showers and clouds hanging around yesterday it could have been more widespread into our area. SPC was spot on with IMO . Unbelievable how KY has risen to one of deadliest states for tornadoes in recent decade, especially nightime deadly tornadoes

Tues - Rain and storms likely with highs in the 60s, lows in the 50s.
Wed - Showers likely with highs in the 60s, lows in the upper 40s.
Thurs - A lingering shower possible otherwise mostly cloudy with highs in the lower 60s, lows in the mid 40s.
Fri - Partly cloudy with highs in the mid 60s, lows in the mid 40s.
Sat - Partly cloudy with highs in the upper 60s, lows in the mid 40s.
Sun - Partly cloudy with highs in the lower 70s, lows in the upper 40s.
Memorial Day - A 50% chance t-storms with highs in the mid 70s, lows in the 50s. (Euro shows a chance late day with the GFS more impactful).

From a severe wx standpoint.... Tues of next week is our next day to watch. We are under a slight risk at this time from the SPC.

Good Morning and no doubt we got lucky with the severe outbreak on Friday. Bgoney had called it early that the strongest part may be south and that turned out correct. I was just thinking yesterday about how Kentucky has been hit so hard the past 5 plus years in terms of severe weather and especially the southern part of the state.

The upcoming week looks busy and though last week we had a nice break for the most part in terms of rainfall that does not look like the case for this upcoming week. Mon-Thurs a good 1-2 inches seems like the correct amount for most folks. Fri-Sun may turn out nice though a bit cool for late May. I will be in Brown County,Indiana with some friends so the weather looks almost perfect. Starting Memorial Day another period of wet weather will probably be in the forecast.

Is there any heat in the upcoming forecast and at the moment nothing that I can see though I do expect folks in the plains to heat up some the last week of May. Sooner of later in the upcoming months this will no doubt make a stride towards the Ohio Valley but with vegetation doing well we tend to be able to hold off on some of the really hot temps. If we start to dry out in June then the heat will no doubt make it here.

Nice post Tim! I think June starts off on the below normal side, but how long that lasts, remains to be seen from this distance. The longer we can keep it going though, the better off we will be in the long run this summer. Last year, we started to dry out in May and June which wasn't good and we ended up with a hot summer. May so far has been the complete opposite of last year and June (at this time) looks to continue that trend at least early in the month.

Great Post Les and yes rainfall in May and June can no doubt be a forerunner of a hot summer. Of course the more rainfall you get especially in June and make it quite muggy so yes we may get away with the 90 degree heat but those dew points can rise into the mid-upper 70's with decent rainfall.

IMO, the humidity, which I hate, is a good trade off vs being in a drought. Or like last summer, it was humid and drought both.

12Z GFS is trending towards the Euro now for a drier Holiday weekend and POPS only late in the day on Memorial Day itself. We'll take it! :)
