Thank you, Les!

God bless you, too, and praying for you a complete and smooth recovery, bro. So are you only allowed soft foods for a while during your recovery period? Is your Mom able to stop by occasionally to help you with any tasks? I've heard that holding a bed pillow against your torso while trying to get up out of a chair slowly helps an incision or incisions to not feel nearly as bad in that kind of position because a pillow can act like a padded buffer against one's body e.g. Prayers granted to you, too, and my heart goes out to you, Les. Prayerfully your Mom can give you sponge baths and for any gauze / bandage dressing / wound salve changes. There's also aerosol waterless shampoo varieties available.
Yep. My Mom has been outstanding through the whole thing. I learned the hard way to take it easy. I tried drinking one cup of coffee this morning black coffee and that came back up. Probably too much acid. I am keeping food down right now, but I am eating very small portions. When you're in pain, you just don't feel hungry. Had to take another pain pill too this afternoon. Ugh... I'm just keeping myself hydrated as best I can. Sprite and ginger ale (esp ginger ale) is good at settling your stomach. The Dr said I could eat what I wanted too, but if you have a problem, stay away from that particular food for a week then try again. I can't have any baths though. Showers are fine. The stitches are made with skin glue so after a couple of weeks, the glue comes off on its own and the stitches just pop right out. You don't have to go back into the Dr's Office to get the stitches removed, so that's a good thing.

I hope and pray that you can get back to your normal self too Bro. It sounds like you've been having quite the ordeal too.

So very very thankful for parents and Moms as mine has given me Jello gelatin cups, applesauce cups, ginger ale, iced tea, water, chicken broth, yesterday e.g. I had some Campbell's Home Style chicken and noodle soup, dry toast, sliced banana (in part a BRAT "diet" for a few days), yesterday and today improved to being able to have mashed boiled egg w/ some Smart Balance and for lunch today had some Chunky Split Pea and Ham soup w/ some oyster crackers. :) I've been eating very small portions, too, because any nausea from a virus don't want to risk an episode dry heaves or worse. That's been my challenge, too, is the motivation to stay hydrated as I don't want to get my triglycerides e.g. off balance because I've had to take Fenofibrate to keep my trigs in check for a period of years since having resided in Raleigh, NC. Thankful that your stitches are made with skin glue and that the nature of healing in that way is easier. My how far medical technology has come!

Thank you very much Bro as I'm coming along! :)

Sounds good Eric! Glad to hear that. I had some mac n cheese for dinner. If I can keep that down then I'll try some meat tomorrow. I am def staying away from spicy or deep fried food for a while until I see how this goes.

My Aunt Carol whose 87th birthday we celebrated this past Sun came down with a virus on Mon and she's tested positive for Covid. :( Her actual birthday is this Thurs the 13th.

My folks are both under the weather, too, as Mom has sinus drainage and a cough / sore throat and Dad has a sore throat / cough.

I just recently from the past week got over Norovirus. Feb isn't being kind health wise, unfortunately!

God will get us through it as these, too, shall pass!

Thank you very much, Les! :) Prayerfully I'll be able to avoid what they have!

I saw a headline article at the WHIO7 site that flu cases are up and the highest in 15 years in the Ohio Valley e.g. My folks and I get an annual flu shot every fall, they the full dose and I wanted a full dose but due to a shortage of full doses which are primarily for age 65 and over, I had to settle for a low dose one for this season which offers at least some protection.

So thankful that you're on the rebound, Bro! :thumbupleft:

They recorded a case in Mercer Co Ohio I heard on the news this morning. A guy who worked on a farm contracted it from being around dead birds that were infected.

Yes, the first reported case of bird flu transmission to a human in the Ohio Valley. :( Prayers and thoughts with the gentleman and his family and for him a full recovery.

My Mom has a recurring problem except this time worse. On top of her virus she has a bowel blockage. She had a partially blocked bowel in December 2023 and was in a hospital in Dayton for a while and during that time she also had Covid. I took her to our local hospital here in Greenville late yesterday afternoon and she had some x-rays taken of her abdominal area and then our family practitioner put in an order for her to be taken to the ER dept where she was examined again and she had CT scan of her abdomen done. The staff decided to keep her at the hospital overnight and they put a drainage tube through her nose and down into her stomach to clear her of acid and bile. Mom is absolutely miserable and she probably had a so-so night. Please keep us in your prayers and for my Dad, too, as he's fighting a virus, also, and also has been checking online for gastric surgeons. Mom also has heart issues and for myself, I'm not sure cardio-wise she could withstand surgery. She's also 85 yrs old so age is another factor. I don't understand why my family is being put through these health trials but God does and He will get us through it!

Thank you very much Bro!

My mother Joyce is a real trooper through it all as the drainage tube has been causing her discomfort down her nose, throat, and esophagus but she said in a recent phone call this morning that her stomach does feel lighter re fluid, thankfully, and yesterday staff gave her an enema and she was able to excrete at least some movement but not enough yet to satisfy hospital staff. This is her 2nd full day at the hospital and the staff wants to give her another enema sometime today to try to pass through some more. And then prayerfully that and beyond want her to try some solid food before any decision of dismissal from the hospital.

Dad, thankfully, is starting to feel better more so from his influenza. :) For some reason the particular vaccines that my folks and I had this past fall didn't meet the kind of strain of flu going around this winter. Some of the relatives that we had gathered with for Aunt Carol's birthday party at a pizza parlor, unfortunately, had been sick, too, and were getting over various viruses. Tis the season!

Thankfully I'm still doing well. :) Made two trips to two markets here in G'ville for some groceries yesterday. :)

My Mom's younger sister, Aunt Donna, bless her heart, brought by some homemade soup yesterday and had left it at our front door. :) I'll be having some of that for lunch a bit later. :)

My Mom had her tubing removed this morning, then she was able to eat her first solid meal again which was lunch, and mid afternoon she was dismissed PTL!! :thumbupleft: Also her bowels are back to normal! :) The first thing she wanted to do when she got back home was to take a shower. :)

My Aunt Carol who is Mom's older sister here in Greenville was diagnosed with Covid early last week and, sadly, its affected her head. Since this past Mon she's also had Vertigo and her head feels like its in a "fog". This viral season has been one heckuva (w)itch! :(

I'll be so glad when this winter is over and Spring is just around the corner! :thumbupright:

So sorry Bro to hear about continued illnesses that are plaguing your family. There's a nasty flu like virus going around too. My Brother and his kids were sick last weekend. *Knock on wood* but so far my Mom and I have been good. Flu shot seemed to help us avoid it thus far anyway.

Thank you Bro. My folks and I get a flu vaccine every fall, too. I'm thankful that you and your Mom's vaccines have taken hold against the strain that is going around this season. Sorry to hear that Larry, Harper, Colton and Cooper have been sick and prayers are with them for a speedy recovery.

My Mom went to our nurse practitioner here in G'ville yesterday for a followup re her bowel and she wore a mask to the appt. She said that the waiting room was nearly full with people and kids and including a 2-day old baby who were sick.
