Good morning all! Lots to look at this morning so get some coffee and let's talk some weather! Flood warnings and flood watches will be expiring as time goes on. 2.64" for rainfall officially at CVG as of the 7am reading. 2-4" has fallen across the tri-state area depending on your location so the forecast worked out great! Now... we have rain / snow mixed changing to all snow moving into the region now. Temp is 34 and falling. Expect 1"+ per hour snowfall rates with big flakes and falling temps. Winds to 30 mph in gusts also. 1-3" of snow can be expected thru 10am. Then it is over and we transition to isolated snow showers for the rest of the day. Road temps are falling quickly too so the winter weather advisory remains in effect throughout the day today. Any remaining water that is not treated will freeze up today. Could see some slick spots in the morning also for those that have to go to work like me on Pres Day.

What are you guys seeing? Per radar, it is snowing along and NW of I-71. I am seeing snow now here as well as CVG. Very nice frontogenic forcing within the deformation band so it's going to mean business folks.

Snowing as hard here as it has all winter. A little over an inch and pulling up fast.

Normally back end snows are usually not good for snow in this area. This time though there is so much moisture around that getting a couple of inches is possible. Will watch the temp this morning because the roads are wet and never had time to dry off so if we see a drop off say in the upper 20's over the next few hours I would expect some icy spots to form.

Looks like total rainfall for CVG is a tad over 2.5 inches so a very heavy rain event for mid-Feb. Highest totals of course over southern Kentucky with many places getting 4-5 inches and my guess once we see reports come out some folks got 6-7 inches. So all and all the storm performed as models showed though not perfect but that is never going to happen.

Thanks Tim! Getting hammered here and I'll have an inch on the car top / grass probably here shortly. A couple of inches is absolutely doable this morning. Love it!

Hey Les and once the snow ends we wait for the snow showers this afternoon and these could produce another quick 1/2 inch as that is the true arctic front getting near us.

Absolutely Tim! These will be more scattered but a few folks could certainly tack on a bit more after the deform band is finished. Check out what BG just posted on his FB page about 15 mins ago.

12Z HRRR has the event ending in that 10-11am window. Probably about 2 more hours of snow for MBY. If I can tack on 1 more inch in that time period which I expect too, I will most likely put 2" down for this event.

The heavy rain and thunder followed by snow has reminded me of the 78 blizzard. Not the same I know , but made me think of it.

Yes and of course the big difference was the drop off of temps. I remember that evening well with heavy rain to heavy sleet to heavy snow in 1 hour. Temps dropped probably 30 degrees in 6 hours.
