Northern Kentucky seems to be the sweet spot. Those returns coming in there look real nice!

5 1/4" now, same measurement spot. I hear some light sleet, heavier band really close.

Here goes My Lions and a heavy snow band (I hope) moving in...
Re: January 5-6th, 2025 First Legit Winter Storm of the Season
Yes. The HRRR has I-70 on the northern fringe of the deform band tomorrow. If that happens I think 6 is doable. Even the short range Canadian has come around to I-70 being the cut off for the 6 inch snows. We'll see what happens. I think spots along I-70 will see 6 inches. Probably not more than that.young pup wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:19 pmAre you looking at the hrrr?dce wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:12 pm About an inch and a half now. Really starting to come down now. Watching CVG's 5 min obs. Light snow, have not seen any sleet yet being reported.
Re: January 5-6th, 2025 First Legit Winter Storm of the Season
I like your thinking! I'm just glad we aren't getting shut out on this one. It was really close. If we can come away with around 6 inches I'll take it. I'm glad most everyone on the forum is getting a nice storm. Most of the time it evens out in the end. I-70 may do better on the next one. Cincy will do better with this one! I hope they get a foot!snowbo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:18 pmI agree Doug and the bonus is, if CVG beats us in this snowfall, we get an advantage in the snowfall contest!dce wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:12 pm About an inch and a half now. Ok just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a model. But, I will say the hrrr has been wrong for the cmh area since the beginning. IMO of course.dce wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:29 pmYes. Light ice pellets mixing in as of 8:30pm now so that heavy band over me is sleet mixed with snow.

Yeah. I'm talking I-70 in Western Ohio. Honestly, being in Western Ohio I don't look too closely at central Ohio.young pup wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:36 pmOk just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a model. Still all snow in Wyoming. 5.25 inches so far.

Thanks for the link!
Moderate snow with some sleet, but still mostly snow and coming down quite nicely here. I'll measure again in an hour to see where we stand.

The FV3 model says we still get another 11 inches. NAM says 8. Don't see how that's possible. Unless those back end snows are legit

That hit on Gibbs was brutal. Glad to see him pop back up!
Re: January 5-6th, 2025 First Legit Winter Storm of the Season
That seems high but just checked the Nam and the sref and totals are showing the higher totals. Really hits hard and I may need to do more homework. It seems to me that to reach those amounts we get very little in the way of a dry slot and the Monday snows are heavier which the NAM does show.mainevilleweather wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:58 pm The FV3 model says we still get another 11 inches.
