steady light snow for about an hour here in Delhi.......roads are getting covered. Drove by Kroger.....lot is full....I am thinking some people did not believe the forecast and waited for the first flakes to fall.

Re: January 5-6th, 2025 First Legit Winter Storm of the Season
Areas around the Louisville already reporting between 2-5 inches of snow. These heavier bands can add up quickly and that is why its hard to pinpoint exact totals for a location. You may be getting 2 inches an hour for a few hours but 20 miles down the road that same band is only giving you 1/2 inch an hour. That is we try and have a range that seems most likely but with most systems some folks lower and some higher and again with rainfall if someone got 1.2 inches of rain and the folks 20 miles away got .90 nobody thinks twice about it but snow with folks get worked up easy

Nothing here yet in Greenville, but from previous posts, probably in the 5 to 6 PM time frame. Will be pleasantly surprised if earlier.

nice to see updates from everyone. please keep them coming you can also post some pics here and there if you would like. to get a more accurate measurement put a piece of wood or a pizza box or something on the cold side of your house and then measure off that.

Re: January 5-6th, 2025 First Legit Winter Storm of the Season
I agree... the dry air may indeed screw folks over that are along / north of the interstate. Dewpoints are 19 here, 15 HAO, and low teens for DAY and CMH. So that tells the story.alexdever73 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 11:25 amLots of dry air winning out right now but I agree 12-2pm should start seeing widespread snowfall. Gonna be some serious snowfall this evening. I think everyone will see good accumulations from this with sweet spot being Butler county and south. N of I70. the cutoff is crazy maybe 2-3" from backsidetron777 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:59 amYep. I wasn't seeing it (the thunder snow risk) at the time, but I think Alex was mentioning it the other day. I thought at that time, it would be a very low chance. Thinking a moderate chance now that we could see that late this afternoon and evening. We will see 1-2" per hour from SW to NE across the area (Cincy Land) after 12pm or so today, give or take.tpweather wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:56 am Large storms tend to move slower and no doubt this one is a slow mover. Talking about maybe 30-35 hours where precip is falling. That does not happen often around here unless we get a nice rain storm in the spring. We saw the energy off the west coast as the storm came ashore so getting some lightning and thunder is possible and yes the severe side in the south has increased as well. Energy, energy, energy is always key

Very fine snow right now in Batavia Twsp but roads already getting slippery. A friend is going to North College Hill from Blue Ash - said it's already dicey. Shes hoping her kid's other games this afternoon get cancelled.

Central KY reporting heavy snow and 1/4 to 1/2 mile vis and over in IN, Bloomington down to Evansville, mod to hvy snow as well. In time, we will be in those returns as well. Everything is going according to my plan at this time. The exception in the end might be I-70 Crew and as I said, that zone was my low confidence zone anyway.

On a side note please be sure to fill your bird feeders today as the forecasted snow & cold next week will keep them from getting to any decent food source on the ground.

Roads are snow covered in Oxford already. Several accidents reported. Snow came in about two hours earlier than expected, I always take that as a good sign. Just looked at the NWS, they just upped the potential snow totals for Oxford by 3 inches Within the last hour.

Traffic cams show main roads and parts of the interstates getting slushy and or snow covered. Now is the time to get to where you need to be as conditions will only go downhill from here.

I just looked at their city cameras- wow. Hoping we get some fat flakes this afternoon!!tpweather wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 11:28 am Areas around the Louisville already reporting between 2-5 inches of snow. Snow has made it to the Dryden Rd exit on 75 per traffic cams so it's now getting into the Dayton area as we speak for our N posters.

busy morning here, got my kids cars off the street for the plow operator, although we have one idiot who apparently thinks that wasn't meant for them. Got a turkey in the oven and now just waiting for that to cook for evening dinner. Snow started here almost right at 10am, been steady ever since. Roads are starting to cover even after the truck came and salted. I turned my Christmas lights on for the day to maybe get some pics/video later on.
