Good morning all! You can sure feel the difference in the humidity as you step outside this morning to go to work. A nice northerly breeze too! A gorgeous next several days are on tap across the area. The 90s are taking a break for a while as well. We will get into a more humid and typical summertime pattern next week with seasonal temps in the 80s with lows in the 60s along with a daily chance for showers and t-storms. A pretty easy forecast upcoming. As usual, some will get wet, others will not. You know how convection works in the summer.

Good morning all and Happy Friday to each of you! I have no changes to the forecast over the next 7 -10 days. Gorgeous weather thru this weekend with the humidity slowly coming back on Sunday. Highs generally running 80 to 85 for most folks. Could see 85 to 87 on Sunday. Then for next week, highs generally in the lower to mid 80s with a daily chance of t-storms. A more tropical airmass will be in place too with dews primarily in the upper 60s to the lower 70s. The more active pattern looks to stick around for the next couple of weeks so hopefully, we can all cash in from time to time for our lawns and gardens.

Looks like a nice set up for heavy rains next week for areas south of us in KY and Appalachia . For our tri-cities not looking to good except for the usual H&M variety mid week. Those areas (south)are probably in a worse drought than here so they need the rain too

I can hear a rock concert from the nearby Great Darke Co Fairgrounds tonight here in my neighborhood via a Widow Sons bikers rally.

87 here today.... warm but the humidity is still low thankfully. A similar day tomorrow then we'll see how the POPS will be for next week. I am thinking Monday is low end POPS with a better chance Tues - Thurs.

Good Afternoon and a lovely mid-July weekend. Was up in the Kenwood area Friday and what a difference in the color of the lawns. I forgot what any shade of green looked like. The normal rainy season for us is around mid-March - mid-July and the second half has been rather bleak in my backyard. Mid-July - mid-Oct is when we are getting into the harvest season before we head into the non growing season. So far the Hurricane season is around normal and we usually get a break in the second half of July and first part of August. Will we get the big hurricane season the models and many met's predicted and at the moment I would say no but why and part of that is the La Nina has really not developed like models showed. Sure we have a few bursts but it settles down and yes starting to see some cooler waters but nothing close to what some wacky models showed months ago. We talk about the models quite often and they can be a headache normally we can correct those with decent forecasting in the short term. The climate models are of course much further out in time and really no way to correct them from 6 months ago. I just believe we are so far away from a decent climate model and maybe AI will help in this but no ideal if that is true.

Rainfall this week and yes some chances but more of a normal late July week ahead with temps near normal and a daily chance of rain but nothing widespread that I can see which is common this time of year. Hard to get cold fronts involved in late July and if there is no tropical systems nearby then getting rainfall is not easy. Hopefully the climate models are correct and we get slammed with some decent systems in later August and September and sure I have seen a few in September that have brought a decent amount of rain but its not the norm has September is usually a very dry month.

The good thing is I see no extended heat wave over the next week and that is one positive thing I see. So yes the hazy lazy days of summer are upon us but besides the lack of rainfall its really not been that hot this summer even though we have had a few spells with one in June but the humidity was not bad and then one in July with some humid conditions but nothing that lasted very long. Hopefully we can keep the heat down but we will see if the tropics get going which we know can produce ridging in our area.

Nice post Tim! Like Bgoney has said before, next week's action looks to be more on the scattered side, much like we have been seeing all summer but hopefully for those folks that need the rain, like us (and Bgoney) we can get lucky! I like 30-40% coverage on Monday and 50-70% coverage Tues - Thurs something like that anyway. Probably will see scattered action Friday and into next weekend too.

Good morning all! ILN only has 40-50% POPS for us Mon - Thurs and that's it. Looking like slim pickens. The models are being the models. Like the NAM for instance, it hammers CVG Land with an MCS tonight. I'll believe that when I see it. The GFS and Euro are pathetic with rainfall amounts. 0.25" or less for the entire week. Not good...

Good morning all and what a wonderful start to the day as some much needed rain is hitting the area. Hope everyone can cash in this morning! :) This is a good start to the week. The boys had this to say:

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Weak mid-level shortwave will continue to shift east through the
middle Ohio Valley through early morning, exiting the east by
middle to late morning. HRRR has handled precipitation
associated with the disturbance well, and a sizable chunk of the
CWA should see much-needed rainfall early.

Behind the shortwave, subsidence will likely cause a relative
minimum of diurnal convection this afternoon... though can`t
rule out a few isolated pop-up storms. Temperatures will lift
into the low 80s by late afternoon, and winds will be light out
of the north.
