Re: April 2024 Weather Discussion
I agree Dave. Sunshine and a lot of blue sky coming out now in downtown LOU so it won't be long until we start to see some of that heating in our area as well.

Re: April 2024 Weather Discussion
12Z NAM has the line approaching a little later then the HRRR around 8pm. I'd be on guard to be honest, anytime from around 1pm thru 8 or 9pm this evening to be on the safe side.

Re: April 2024 Weather Discussion
Just made a quick drive to Miamitown to drop off my mother for an appointment; Miamaitown is about 6-7 miles West of my house. Was raining and totally cloud covered here when I left, by the time I pulled into the lot in Miamitown, the rain was over, the skies to the west have quite a bit of clearing. I think we're not in Kansas anymore Dorothy.

Should have also noted, temps in Miamitown were warmer/muggier than here in Colerain Twp. The rain here has now stopped too, so I'll be watching/monitoring temps here next.

It's brightening up in Hamilton. We're still cloud covered, but definitely thinning to the west.

Re: April 2024 Weather Discussion
Visible satellite definitely shows that area of thinning clouds / clearer skies heading in our direction. 2 or 3 hours of that will build us up pretty good I think.
From NWS LOU:
.MESOSCALE...
Issued at 937 AM EDT Tue Apr 2 2024
Line of severe storms now moving across the southern Bluegrass
region, with active warnings ongoing and a continued Tornado Watch.
The Watch has been cleared behind the convective line, but we`ll
continue it back in Butler and Edmonson Counties as storms are still
trying to fire along the outflow boundary. Expect storms to depart
the CWA in the next hour or so.
It`s important to note that while this does clear the Watch for the
morning across southern Indiana and central Kentucky, it is NOT an
all-clear for the day by any stretch. We still have an incoming cold
front this afternoon, and plenty of time for the atmosphere to
reload to support dangerous storms. Damaging winds, large hail, and
fast-moving, possibly strong tornadoes will all be possible. Anyone
in southern Indiana or central Kentucky will need to stay weather
aware for the rest of today.

Brightening up in Norwood. This doesn't really capture just how dark it actually was earlier.

Sunshine coming out now in Mason. What I am seeing out the office window looks similar to the pic that Byron posted from Cincy not too long ago.

Re: April 2024 Weather Discussion
Update from the boys as of 10:43am:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 7 PM THIS EVENING/...
Showers/thunderstorms associated with the first morning
convective complex is pushing out of the region. This will give
our area a brief reprieve in the convective weather.
For this afternoon, low pressure over central Illinois will
deepen as it moves to the western Great Lakes (southwest lower
Michigan) by this evening. A very strong wind field will be
associated with the deepening low and will produce favorable
hodographs capable of producing rotating thunderstorms. We
should see our currently stable airmass becoming unstable very
quickly this afternoon (MLCAPES 1000-1500 J/kg) as southwest
flow advects the instability northeast. Thus, convection seen
currently across southern Illinois and western Kentucky will
likely grow upscale as it heads northeast into our region
(another surging low level jet). All hazards are in place with
supercell thunderstorms: damaging winds, large hail. and several
possible tornadoes that could be strong or intense. The best
window for the severe threat will be between 1 pm and 8 pm. Some
strong to severe storms may occur along the cold front behind
the clusters of storms, but this threat will diminish pretty
rapidly as we head toward midnight as the instability drops off.
Highs today will range from the upper 60s to the lower 70s as
gusty southwest winds prevail as the warm front lifts north.
