Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Late morning update from the boys:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Areas of very light snow/flurries are beginning to fill-in
across the region as the mid/upper level low pivots in from the
NW and broad-scale forcing increases. As we progress into the
afternoon, particularly mid afternoon and beyond, expect the
activity to become more convective in nature, owing to
tremendously deep mixing and a steepening of the LL lapse rates
and development of some LL instby. The particulars of this setup
are still on track as described below, and expect fairly
widespread coverage as we progress toward 21z, especially in WC
and central OH.
High temps creep into the mid/upper 30s in-between the snow
showers. However, brief augmentation to the LL thermal profile
is expected as the snow showers move through any one particular
area, so anticipate that air temps may oscillate one or several
times throughout the daytime period.

Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Starting to see an increase in snow shower intensity over Indiana now. That will continue over the next several hours along with an increase in coverage.

Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Seeing some on and off again flurries here. Temp 32.
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
First snow shower of the day. Light but fun to watch. More coming this afternoon and probably in the 3-7pm time we will see them more numerous and heavier in spots as well.
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Yup that’s the timing I’m thinking as well. Good call.
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Continuing to see snow showers/squalls increase in coverage and intensity.

Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Have seen a couple of very impressive squalls here already. Sun is back out now.

Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Flurries only thus far, not too impressive but that's the way it goes usually anyway. Best coverage from the models I saw wasn't until after 4pm for CVG anyway so still a few hours to go. Snow squall parameter and lapse rates are decent well to our north. Pretty poor looking to the south. Would like to see that change to be honest.
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Both of those parameters will increase down this way as the ULL slides into the area.tron777 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 3:02 pm Flurries only thus far, not too impressive but that's the way it goes usually anyway. 36 here. Very lite on and off flurry action here.
Man, I’m getting tired of this relentless cold wind.

Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Even I will agree here. I love my snow and you've got to have cold air to get snow. But the wind is useless unless it's 90 degrees but then it is calm and we'd kill for a breeze in the summer.
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
My folks just said they had a decent squall in Blue Ash.

18Z HRRR / RAP both looked favorable for a streamer of LES off of Lake Michigan getting in here tomorrow morning.
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Just had a decent squall here at the house! Wind kicked up and snow was going sideways.

Just some flurries here that's been about it today. I'm looking forwards to the LES band tomorrow if some guidance is right, my hood is in a good spot.

Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
A little guitar rock from Joe Walsh and Don Felder got the snow machine going a little better now IMBY. Some dueling electric guitars was what the dr. ordered.

Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
I finally got a nice snow shower earlier when I ran to the grocery store before dinner. Ok it was a beer run But still, it snowed really good for about 5 mins. You could see the snow in streaks blowing across the road. That's what I was expecting to see today.

Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Radar looks decent with the next band dropping in from the NW. 33 degrees here.
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
not much going on here yet as far as the noreaster , had some light snow yesterday morning then it was rain, then light rain tonight turning over to snow now, not much in the way of accumulation just a heavy dusting, we will see what the rest of today brings
22'/23' snowfall > 11"
23'/24' snowfall > 19.5"
23'/24' snowfall > 19.5"
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
Northern posters are having some issues this morning!
Re: March 2023 Weather Discussion
I can confirm the northern Montgomery county area is a sheet of ice. Very bad road conditions from the lake effect band that moved through the area. Only a dusting, but it turned into a sheet of ice.
