Light snow now as we've saturated. It's light pixie dust . Probably won't see a half inch lol
Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
A few flakes flying up here now too. Shouldn't amount to much though!

Steady snow now... finally accumulating. A really nice covering on everything now minus the street where they salted earlier this morning.
EDIT: Wow! My 12,000th post already on our new and improved forum. My does time fly.

Les it won't last long but I can see where a half inch is possible. My street is still a mess with only one lane and of course they piled up the ice and snow on my side of the road. So every flake is sticking here even on the street. Need to get those snow totals up even 1/2 inch at a time so I can finally win the snow contest lol

A quick update from the boys:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Radar shows snow increasing across the western part of the
forecast area, mainly south of I-70. This will continue to
quickly progress east across the region, exiting by early to mid
afternoon. Have increased PoPs given coverage, but have trended
QPF and thus snowfall amounts down. Expecting most places to get
1/2 inch or less. Have also trended temperatures down just a
tad.

This should put my backyard seasonal total to around 7.5" I'll take it for late December every time!tpweather wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 9:57 amYes it is Les and hopefully enough to get me the win lol.tron777 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 9:56 amThis event is like a stat padder!tpweather wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 9:54 amLes it won't last long but I can see where a half inch is possible. I have some ice still and will have until later in the week. Just how it is when your house faces north.

Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
Getting some decent flake size now... that 1/2" should be a lock when all is said and done. CVG reporting 1.25 mile vis as of 10am.
Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
I believe that seems correct and then one last piece of energy to the northwest that is rotating this way but again that one is dying out and much smaller in area so you will need to be in the perfect spot to get any snow from that area. This kind of snow is more like 20-1 imo so just getting .005 can give you an inch. We will probably end up with .003-.005 when all is said and done.

Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
Great post Tim! There will be one more burst of snow later this afternoon and evening from that second piece you mentioned. We'll have to monitor radar trends as it dives SE towards our hoods if there are any scraps left for us by then.tpweather wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 10:17 amI believe that seems correct and then one last piece of energy to the northwest that is rotating this way but again that one is dying out and much smaller in area so you will need to be in the perfect spot to get any snow from that area. Love this kind of snow as well with it coming down light but steady and some fog with reduced visibility plus during the daytime when you can enjoy the falling snow.

Nice snow shower over Hamilton Co right now. That’ll be a wrap after it passes through.

I agree! While yes at night you normally get better sticking power, there is nothing like a daytime snow to soothe the savage snow weenie!

Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
The nice thing about this snow is I can take the leaf blower to it this afternoon for no shoveling! Fighting with that ice yesterday was enough for me.

Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
Very light snow still falling here although the heaviest appears to be over with now. 0.03" so far as of 11am at CVG on QPF. Probably a 1/2" of snow give or take I'd suspect. QPF wise, the Euro wins with this system. GFS, CMC, RGEM and even the NAM until the end, was way too high.

Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
My leaf blower idea failed. Too cold, I couldn't keep it running. So, I had to shovel again.
Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
Doing mine the old fashion way and leave town and let the sun take of the melting. The one good thing about the driveway it does face south which always helps in getting it cleared off in the afternoon.

Re: Post Christmas Clipper for Monday 12/26/22
Last update from the boys on this system:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM TUESDAY MORNING/...
Low pressure in northern Illinois late this afternoon
will continue to drop south southeast and weaken this evening
into the overnight. There has been some very light precipitation
extending east from this low in a bit of a warm air advection
wing. This will sag across the area and diminish along with the
parent low. Soundings suggest that any light precipitation
falling would likely be snow/flurries. But there have been a
number of observations of light freezing drizzle. Cannot rule
this out further south, so have included a chance of flurries
and freezing drizzle. Would expect any precipitation to be very
light, so at this point little to no impact is expected.
Clouds will persist which will keep temperatures from falling
very much tonight with lows in the mid teens to lower 20s.
