Looking beyond the clipper and the Euro has not run yet but I tend to like the CMC over the GFS. They just have some timing differences with the system late next week and I believe the Euro is quicker with the rainfall and I agree and then both have another system next weekend which the pattern looks good for that as well. I do believe though after next week the a more normal early January should return with highs in the upper 30's and lows in the lower 20's. Then do we get a normal to below normal pattern for 7-9 days and I believe so but not betting the ranch yet. Then after that I do believe there is a January Thaw that can last 5-8 days or so.
I have felt good this season with long term patterns and everything they throw is a beach ball but when batters and yes met's and forecasters go in slumps it can look really bad. Lets hope at least they will throw a baseball at me instead of marbles.

-6 degrees here with steady wind chills -20 or below.
-9 was morning low with -38 WC was the coldest I saw.
You are on fire as I stand at -5. Still getting those gusts but not as often. Still wind chills are going to be below -20 all day and I plan on staying inside.
Temps dropped so fast humidity trapped in the house, ice on the bottom of the back door. Hasn't been this extreme for years and years. SNow ranges from maybe an inch to 8 inches in a protected corner of the yard. White Christmas guaranteed!
Traffic cams continue to show tough road conditions with a lot of the interstates still snow covered due to blowing snow. I can only imagine what the less traveled side roads must look like.
Well, it appears that my decision to stop in Knoxville last night might not have been wise. Both 75 and 25 are nightmares. Black ice everywhere, accidents and pile ups, it is the most nerve-wracking driving I have done in a while. Might have been better off to leave it snow covered.
